You'd think ND would be catching some of that recruiting fire as well, since they were the only team that BEAT MSU last year...

We had a huge lead, what happening.........

I'm done but let's get the point, ok

Didn't Wiltfong have a "cloudy" for him at one point too?

I'll eat a booger and post a vine of it if he ends up at MSU.

Yeah so far this is his fourth prediction. ND-Cloudy-ND-MSU.

Nobody knows anything about this kid except that it's going to be a long haul.

His decision date is interesting. I feel like we'd have a better chance if he decided later now.

Really hope he makes it for an OV and doesn't commit to MSU on in August and shut it down.

he may commit to someone in August but no one is going to stop recruiting him.

Does anyone think sparty is going to repeat as big/rose champs?

i just have a feeling the upcoming season is going to have a major impact here.

Based on what I've learned following recruiting for the last few years, he's not committing in August and not going to MSU.

He's coming off a high from probably a good visit. But I don't think he is leaving his cousin and boy James Onawalu. I still think he will come to ND. He was never quoted saying MSU leads I think

A couple of things.

1) I agree.

2) He didn't say the exact words but it was pretty clear that they are leading. This quote in particular is illustrative of that, "I noticed that defense is all world and I see myself playing in that defense in the future." I say this because nobody summarized the article. My opinion is that his comments make it seem like they took the lead.

3) Are you sure he and Onwualu are cousins? I've never heard that before.

Only 4 more signing days for this thread lol.

This cracks me up.

MSU won the Big10 in a big upset and won a BCS bowl game. We lost 4 games including a game to Pitt, BARELY beat teams like Navy and Purdue, played a boring style of football, and struggled to put away an awful Rutgers team in a horrible bowl game. What recruiting fire are you expecting to catch?

Nobody should be surprised by this (no offense, but don't listen to NDSean...he thinks we lead for EVERYONE). Certain recruiting sites told you it was an uphill battle bc Diaco stopped recruiting him hard while every other school ramped up their efforts. He didn't show up last week to his 'best friend's' school despite being a couple hours away. Normally that would mean nothing but if you couple that with the way his recruitment is trending, well, it says something (for me at least).

Now, if this kid went to Catholic High School X in Nashville, TN, then he would be just another high school recruit we're chasing. But because he went to Durhan-Cretin (sp), people assume he's a lock to ND. Not so...every kid is different.

Personally, I'm not as high on him as others (ESPN has him way overrated and he didn't impress me when I saw him play an entire game), and I don't think he's coming to ND. But I'm no scout so don't listen to me, and he very well could end up here. But because he doesn't talk glowingly about ND anymore and the way he talks about other schools, this is going to be a dog-fight for ND. It would still be a great get, but my hopes aren't as high as most on here, I guess...

There's so much time left and how many kids talk about a great visit as soon as the visit is over? Let's give this time for 1. The excitement of the visit to wear off, 2. The coaches to have a chance to recruit him and 3. His announcement date to come and go without an announcement.

ND is just fine here. There is onen thing that this staff has learned over the last 2-3 years, is when to put the full court press on. They know when they can really go after a kid and have it make a difference. 2 years ago they put a full court press on Jaylon Smith about this time of the year. I would imagine they are going/doing the samething for Hilliard right now and NDs focus is on Hilliard until he pops. Then they will be able to figure out a gameplan for their other kids like Cornell.

And contrary to some reports/opinions out there...I like Cornells game. Is he explosive like Tuitt? No. Is he a better athlete than Tuitt? Yes. In my opinion, he is suited to play a role like Sheldon Day. Cornell is adding good/bad weight right now, but as a junior, I am really not worried about bad weight. But if he gets up to 280, then he has the ability to slide inside/outside and play multiple roles along the Dline.

I don't know if this thread can take such solid logic and reasoning!

I know this is Cornell's thread but is Hillard expected to "pop" somewhere soon? Not asking TP in particular, I just don't remember reading that Hillard had planned to announce soon.

I'm pretty sure anyone with eyes would realize that ND was plagued with injuries last season. Take Allen, Bullough, and Calhoun away and see how that defense does. Essentially, that's how screwed they were last season. I just don't get this sudden appeal to Michigan State, when the same didn't happen for ND when they finished 12-0. Sure, they finished with a highly ranked class, but it was highly ranked prior to the season and then of course we had the ole' EV situation.

I do agree, that I don't think he's the best DE in this class. He definitely gained some bad weight to. However, as I've stated before, you are blowing the "Diaco" situation way out of proportion. Yes, ND lost ground because of him. No, they didn't lose the lead for him. They still had the edge, but it was significantly smaller. HOWEVER, this concerns me. I never really thought Michigan would follow through with Cornell anyway. Sparty, on the other hand, could very well pull him their way.

Again, I'm not overly optimistic. I know a dud when I see one. It's not like I was predicting that JuJu was coming to ND on NSD, I knew that was a dead end. Wasn't surprised when Quick went to OU, because they caught fire with their Sugar Bowl win (and they BEAT ND).

You think everyone besides fans of ND were aware of all of our injuries? That's naive.

Do you have inside information? You say this as if it's a fact.

Uh...I'm pretty sure injuries are FACT. They actually happen. There's no opinion on whether or not you're hurt. If you're hurt, YOU'RE HURT.

And if anybody that follows ND (not just fans), doesn't realize that ND was injury-plagued, then I'd say they're the naive ones. Either that or just flat out oblivious. Kinda hard to look at the defensive line and NOT notice the 340 pound giant missing in the middle...

Wow guy...just wow. Read my comment again please. I stated it was a bold prediction with no factual evidence to back it up...pretty sure that means it's not to be taken 100% seriously. Scarlett and Irving both seem to have ND trending at the moment, that's about all I have on that.

You really need to stop applying your ND fanhood to everyone else. Nobody, outside of ND fans, cares that we were thin on the D line because of attrition/injury. All anyone sees is the W-L record and your bowl game. It may not be fair, but that's what it is.

MSU lost to us, but they had a much better season and stuffed Stanford in the Rose Bowl. That's how you get momentum. Nobody cared about ND's 12-0 season because we got thoroughly demolished by Alabama. ND has been more mirage than substance for the last decade even when we're doing well, and getting embarrassed like that put us firmly back in the mirage camp.
