the only thing that was impressive to me in the highlights was how smooth of a runner he seems to be. looks effortless and is probably a stud in the 200 and 400.

but outside of that i wasn't baffled by his highlights. he seems like a guy that maybe gets 15 snaps a game and you try to get him the ball, but didn't look extremely shifty or anything.

man, we are beating the bushes for talent in Texas this year. I love it.

Yeah, I always loved those bushes in Texas, well most of them, anyways. The ones I didn't love, I would love beating. A little humor there. Irregardless . . .

Made his "top 5" which actually ended up somehow evolving into a top 7 to list a couple more schools.

First I've seen of this thread. I love his ability to stop on a dime, and he appears to have that extra gear. Odd that he doesn't have a higher ranking or larger offer list.

Well if degree is really a priority, then we should be in the drivers seat. With his speed, he would get some early playing time.

The way Lucky and others feel about Boykin vs ESB/Strickland/etc. is how I feel about Humphrey vs Newsome. If the staff wants an outside guy, a tweener (which they've got in Guyton I think) and a pure slot, I would like to see the staff go all-in on Newsome first. Although Humphrey is no slouch, I think Newsome will be unreal.

Just saw this. For me completely different. Humphrey has a trait that very few players do that is elite speed. Boykin doesn't have a single trait or two that is must have.

Boykin has incredible athletic ability/ball skills/body control for a TE. All about how you view him, I think Boykin is a darn near mirror to Funchess (H/T GBDomer) and fits in his own unique category. Not quite a TE, not quite a WR.

Yes, for TE. I've been on board with that the whole time.

Wondering if this might help narrow things down for Newsome, or if Baylor wants all of the inside receivers.

Newsome has quite a bit of interest in UT, Oregon, Texas Tech, etc. So it probably takes Baylor out of it but we need a good summer visit to stay in this.

Confirmed for II. He's committed to Baylor but is still looking. ISD said his family "erupted" when he got an ND offer.

It's ND, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Texas in no order. Baylor is out because they want him on defense only, he is 70/30 wr over db. We will get an official because of all the great things he hears from other guys who have been up there. Also like the way Coach Cooks recruits him no pressure, they talk a lot about football. He also talks to Coach Kelly regularly. He loves our tradition and what the degree means. Mentioned the graduation rate. Also said he is looking for a place with a city with a lot of other things going on where he can enjoy himself away from football. We like him as an athlete.

Yea, TJ said a little bit ago that "some" on the offensive staff want more than one "slot" guy on the field at the same time.
