Was surprised to get the offer. Hadn't received any mail or other contact until the offer came through. Had a good long talk with Alford. He says that ND has a lot to offer him as a student/athlete. We're trying to get him up for a camp in the summer. Apparently Alford is trying to get a bunch a high level athletes up to ND for a camp this summer. He actually talks to his first period teacher about ND a lot. She went to ND and they always joke that he'll be playing football there one day. Not worried about whether at all. He previously mentioned OSU, UGA, and Tenn as his top 3 but is taking a step back from that to put together a top 5 or 6 that will definitely include ND.

Kids got a ton of potential if he can learn to go north and south and lower his head. Fastest RB tape I've seen for 2015.

Loy coming through w/ a CB to ND

Man, I wonder if the other guys at 247 ever say to him "are you f'ing kidding me." I actually think he's done good work outside of his relentless CB predictions.

Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, USC make up his top 4.
Once again Tom Loy with a crystal ball for ND meaning its a wrap.

So he doesn't like ND as much as the others?

Recruiting is dumb.

It's not at all, it's just a shitty mod we have who is the biggest homer. I really miss Jason Sapp because he was the best mod and was always sincere and honest. I am done ripping Loy but he lost all credibility when he CB Lorenzo Carter to ND.Then kept repeating how we are in such a great position for JuJu when Oregon was running second the whole time. Only thing he has ever been right about was Isiah McKenzie when everyone was calling him out.

Maybe you should slow down a little GB.

Yeah, he's guilty of playing the CB "game" where he locks in a CB to ND for virtually every prospect early for max points IF it turns out to be right. So what? That's standard operating procedure right now because the system they have is retarded over there.

Loy is far from an idiot homer when he actually provides info.

With all due respect, rushing to Loy's defense was the most predictable thing I've seen this week on the Internet. haha

If you want to some other "why the hell not" homer picks, check out Landon Wright predicting Chris Clark and Ryan Newsome to Texas Tech yesterday.

It's the rage these days... go to any team site, find their "guy", and they're operating this way locking in super early homer picks for max potential points.

It's beyond dumb that they are "scoring" crystal ball picks... which is what has lead to all of this shit.

I don't get why they don't fix it to where if you put in pick for a player, you lose points if you're wrong, even if you change it later.

You could do it by giving mods points positive or negative for every day they have a pick in. If they are wrong, then they lose the amount of points they had days predicted for that recruit.

As it is now... it's stupid recruitnik BS. That's why Loy bugs me. Not because he is right/wrong or comes with good/bad info... it's because he has a douchey persona to him that makes me want to smash his face.

He isn't in the same atmosphere as Sapp. Huge downgrade for us.

All of the bolded I totally get. I used to laugh at clowns like Schrader, Lorenz, Keurlic, etc. who were just blind homers who didn't second-source anything.

Now... on many levels... his "persona" is quite comparable to those guys.

Like I said before there is just something about his face.

I think Loy is a smart guy and uses his crystal ball to get hits. The difference is that it makes him less credible. He is playing towards a different audience, than those that are here. Most likely the audience that hangs on every word these recruiting sites say, therefore crystal ball predicitons for elite athletes will get more site traffic.

Just think of the few weeks that go by without some "major" recruiting info, and now throw in a little flavor with Notre Dame being in the mix for _______ 5* recruit. All Loy needs is one quote from said recruit stating they like Notre Dame, and bam you have a story.

I just don't get the purpose for these guys to have a point system. Either you're right or wrong.

The thing I like about a point system is that it can illustrate when recruiting dudes actually believe the info they have or if they are just betting on public opinion. The current CB doesn't do that. It rewards silly long shot picks as if those are actual opinions, not just guys taking shots in the dark for clicks.

That's why I think it should be positive AND negative points. That way they are rewarded for picking early off of their info, rewarded for holding off if they're not sure and punished for outlandish (and misleading) picks.

Right now it's just a arbitrary system that rewards recruiting nerds for promoting themselves.
