Perhaps he's honored to receive an offer from his Uncle's alma matter, and nothing more than that?

I mean, if I had no interest in a school, and my family member passed away and I received an offer from them, even if I had no interest at all, out of respect I'd say I was overwhelmed by the offer and very honored.

Anyway, all this speculation about who's leading is silly at this point. Whether we're leading or outside of his top 5, he hasn't visited yet and that can change everything.

It's like going to a car dealership with a top 5 in mind, without having test drove the cars yet. You see some pics online and you think you know your favorite, but you have to actually sit inside, drive the car, and hear the pitch as to why it's the best car for you.

Or choosing a job based on 'the company' without actually meeting with the personel. When I came out of college, I was convinced I was going to accept a position with company 1 if offered. It was an absolute no brainer. They recruited my school hard, knew friends that worked there from classes ahead of me, and were fortune top 20 at the time. I went through the interview with company 1, then interviewed with 2 other places just to be safe; the 2 other places were back up plans in case company 1 didn't offer. Like I said, company 1 was always my 'leader'. But the next two interviews blew me away with 'fit' and what they could offer, and after all 3 interviews, company 1 was the only place I ruled out. And this is coming from a college grad who has a pretty good understanding of the businesses and what not... I can't imagine how confusing it is for a high schooler.

I guess my point is, unless there's legit love for one school, I don't see the point in a top 5 pre-visit and IDC if we're outside of his top 5 as long as he's here on March 29th and gets to test drive.

If you get to a point where you're so far out that you're on the bubble of the top 5 and you might not get a visit, that's when there's reason to worry. But he's visiting, so personally, IDC what his top 5 or anything else is at this point. It's all about the V!

This may be the most level-headed, down to earth, and sensible comparison ever made on a recruiting site. NEG REPS!!

Perhaps Clark's decision "surprising people" is a reference to the fact that ND has been downplayed since his big reaction to the offer?

Maybe he is intentionally selling reporters short on ND so he can savor the recruiting process. I find it hard to believe ND has dropped so quickly after all the quotes from the offer.

Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe this is Matt Elam 2.0!

So he IS going with Diaco's hair and staying home?

I don't know much about the kid yet but I sure hope his ego isn't anywhere close to Elam or he won't likely fit well personality wise into crowded TE position group anyway. He doesn't come off as that kind of kid from what I have seen though, so I am holding out hope for a fantastic visit and a surge to the front of the pack by the end of the month.

Comparing this kid to Matt Elam at this stage seems ridiculous.

I don't think anyone is comparing him to Elam. Bogs replied to my hypothetical with another hypothetical, that's all.

Edit: Okay, md_bennet was kind of comparing him to Elam haha

He would have had a better post if he said speaking the Elam name in Clark's thread isn't quite cricket, is it?

A couple new Scout articles...he has good things to say about the 3 different schools discussed in them (UVa, Maryland, UK). He didn't mention ND when talking about his upcoming visits, FWIW. He seems excited and to love the process in general.

Typically the elite kids may show some interest to the local team, but end up with the major players when all is said and done. This would be a major coup for The Hair to land this kid.

Actually, with all the love being the thing, I shouldn't have mentioned "Matt Elam 2.0", I should have just cut to the chase and said, "My ex-wife 2.0."

Let's all just accept now that I jinxed the shit out of this recruitment and am squarely to blame if he doesn't pick ND.

It's the Newtonian reaction to your getting in Brendan Gibbons' head during the Penn State game.

Anyone else getting an Andrew Williams vibe here?

Andrew Williams visited ND multiple times and really liked ND. Just think he wanted to play in a 4-3 and maybe didn't like Diaco. I am confused on the vibe you are getting

He has already given glowing reviews about ND.Plus didn't he say he loves ND and it's kind of his dream school? I doubt any of that has changed in a couple interviews and 2 weeks. Let's see how things go in a couple weeks

Newton is dead. I am just saying.

But if you look at it LAX's brain = massive; Gibbons' brain = peanut, maybe. That opposite force isn't enough to 'splain any of this!

But I really like the way you used your in your post. You're obviously going places using it so succinctly when other are tempted to such abject failure.

I was missing dshan's posts so wickedly bad, that I took it upon myself. This is what happens when it spills!

per Bill Kurelic crazy ass who might be as much as a homer as Loy and Scott Schrader

I think Clark’s decision comes down to Ohio State or Notre Dame, and right now it is just too close to call between the two. But for now at least I will go with the Buckeyes winning out over the Irish.

Too close to call, but I'll go with the choice that will bring more page views to bucknutz. What a clown.

Ohio State recruiting: Chris Clark previews upcoming visits - Land-Grant Holy Land

From an OSU site so take it with a grain of salt, but he definitely seems to like them a lot.

On ND:
"Notre Dame is a tight ends university. I like the coaches and the school a lot. They're good guys. I got the chance to talk a lot with coach (Tony) Alford," he said. "It's going to be a good opportunity to get out to the campus and check them out. I'll meet with the coaches like at the other places and will hang out with the players too. I'm excited about that visit."
