If you haven't read the books, or even if you have, this is a really good youtube video that explains all the history. I'm in the middle of reading all the books for a second time and it's still very interesting to see all of the history put together since they only give you it in bits and pieces in the books. Make sure you have time because there's two videos and each takes about an hour.

Since a new book only comes out every 100 freaking years i think game of thrones might have to go back and make a prequel once they've caught up to the books and I wouldnt complain one bit. The history is pretty awesome.

I have a question about HBO. I don't have HBO and i just stream all the episodes off the internet, which is fine by me because it's good quality and I just connect it to my projector, but i got my Mom hooked on this show and she doesn't have HBO either. She won't watch them online and doesn't want to get HBO forever, so i just keep buying her the season DVD's.

How does HBO work though? Can I suave my way into getting a free month for her, can she order it for a couple months until the season is over and cancel it? or is it a year long thing? I just assume you have to get it for a year that way people don't sign up for the last month of game of thrones and just watch them all.

Any help here? My mom hasn't seen the third season and I was pretty pissed when people ruined the RW for her.

If she doesn't sign a contract she should be able to sign up for HBO for 3 or 4 months and then cancel it.

I kind of hate it.

1. It's way more badass in High Valyrian (valar morghulis). The English kind of seems lame.

2. The three-eyed crow has nothing to do with the Faceless Men whatsoever.

I cannot wait for this! A storm of swords was my favorite book by far. Definitely has potential to be the best season, but it's going to be impossible to top the red wedding shock in my mind.

I read the books and everything so I knew what was coming... I think waiting for the "shocker" kind of killed the season for me personally, so I wasn't as impressed with season three as the first two.

I just bought the DVD/bluray and rewatched it though. Without focusing so much on waiting for one big event, I enjoyed the third season immensely the second time around. It was much better than I initially gave it credit for.

Trying to finish up the third book so I can watch the third season. Probably my favorite book of the series so far.

Yup, it's my favorite of the series to this point. Tons of action and big shockers throughout. It didn't have some of the "plodding along" that the other books have at times. How far in are you?

Don't know what the red wedding is yet. Assuming it's Edmure's at this point because I have to imagine that lord is pissed at Robb for going back on his word and marrying that girl. I'll also say I don't have a good feeling about the girl he married. At best she's someone who let him make a really really dumb choice in marrying her.

Daneyres has Unsullied and is basically acting like a warlord. Jamie saved Brieanne. Tyrion has been married. I'm about 600 pages in.

SPOILERS BELOW SOME OF WHICH MAY BE FOR SEASON FOUR SO JUST SKIP THIS IF YOU DON'T READ THE BOOKS:

So I read the Red Wedding...

Idk, I guess I just never liked Robb or Catelyn Stark that much. I hated Catelyn for hating Jon, I understood it but still... Jon. And Robb was just his dad all over again. A nicer guy you'll never find but geez man play to win.

I also read through Joffrey's wedding...

1451.gif

Fuck yeah. God if only Cersei would be next I might spontaneously orgasm.

I sat through the trial where Shae just... man that hurt my soul

I just finished the Mountain's fight with the "Blood Viper" or whatever his name was...

Fuck you George.

Most people didn't think he'd kill main characters... not sure why they thought he'd keep every main character alive that is "good" for like 20K pages over 7 books, especially after the first book ended the way it did. People also seem to feel for the Starks in particular, probably because the first few books showed them the most. I actually enjoy Jamie's storyline the best by far, or Bran's... weird I know.

Spoilers: but I don't understand Tyrion's involvement with the Royal Wedding... it wasn't him, right? I feel like multiple stories end with different people committing the crime. I understand why he would leave but why f with Jamie like that and admit to it if he didn't do it? Maybe I missed something.

*SPOILERS ALL BOOKS*

Tyrion did NOT do it. I forget every detail but the Queen of Thorns was behind it. The stones in Sansa's hair piece were Tears of Lys or The Strangler or some other poison. Margeary may have been involved in the delivery. Tyrion told Jamie that HE was responsible out of pure rage. This was right after Jamie confessed that Tysha hadn't really been a whore. Tyrion was just trying to hurt him. See also "she's been fucking Moon Boy for all I know."

Please refrain from posting spoilers from the books here.

In the "Song of Fire and Ice" thread you'll find ample opportunity to discuss the book.

This thread is for the show.

Thank-you.

And the next time we meet, I'll tell you about your mother.

I hated Tyrion in the first book but love him now. Probably my favorite character. We stopped our HBO subscription to save some cash...:-( I'll have to try to catch these another way.
