True. But I think someone brought up the point earlier in this thread that some guys on this site post something and people will jump to praise that particular poster solely because of who that poster is. That's what I was getting at and what your post reminded me of.

To Greyhammer: you are right. But I posted that for two reasons.
a). it's intellectually correct, yes, but more because
b). I sensed, rightly or wrongly that the thread was about to go bad at that time {folks like dshans and I and once Neutered try to sense the need for a softening of things, not in the sense that I would take a lot of crap, but that some of the guys might start sniping at one another in less than a good natured way.} For whatever the reason, the thread righted itself and most of the posters had a bit of fun lightening it up.
But in reality, the actual social dynamic of this voting is not as innocent as one might like. People weren't exactly kidding when they laid this mantle on GBDomer last year, and they're not really kidding this year. Well, so be it, but we shouldn't think that this one is simple goofy fun.
I didn't vote last year [and sure as hell wouldn't have voted for GBDomer, he was a great poster and should have posted more THIS year], and I didn't vote this year either. This is the only poll which has an "edge" to it, and I wouldn't mind [after graciously accepting the "compliment"] seeing it go away from IE, except as an open IE phony mudslinging discussion. THAT is where the fun is.
I realize that this is like a turd in a punchbowl, but you probably won't see the post over-rated at least.

? I'm the guy that initially nominated him, so I don't see how that's brown nosing. Also I find this pretty funny from a guy who thought the "all IE" category wasn't enough and wanted to make a "have a beer" thread so he could hand out compliments and flattery to more site regulars. Regardless, it's too bad you probably won't be around to nominate me next year.

I'm not voting because I don't consider any of the nominated posters overrated, but is Ironman seriously garnering votes? Whoever voted for him, you are like the annoying guy in the barroom argument who insists that Michael Jordan or X Hall of Fame legend was overrated just to be provocative.
