The Minnesota insider on 24/7 who claims to know someone on staff has changed his crystal balls from Florida to Michigan to now Arky. So I am just gonna go ahead and say he has no idea what he is talking about.

I hadn't noticed this but I think thats a fair assumption. No way this kid ends up at Arky.

Barton Simmons put in a CB for ND today. So looking at the "trend" of the CB, ND seems to be in a decent position.

- The last 2 CBs are for ND
- In the last 3 weeks, 2 reporters have changed their CB away from UM (to O$U and Arkansas)
- 1 reporter from Mgoblog has CB'd ND
- 1 reporter from Bucknuts has CB'd ND

It's early and recruiting is such a fickle game. But we gotta be pleased that the staff has put us in a strong position with this recruitment (plus ones before from CD).

well of course it's just my opinion but I know he has a lot of people in ND corner and he is honestly best friend with James. I think the whole package deal with Hillard might happen with them both ending up at ND. But I think both will make there own decisions.

Yeah a tandem of Barnett and Cornell recruiting would be totally tits. But in reality, I'll take his LOI on NSD if that's what it takes to get him in South Bend. We can dream though, right?

I don't think he takes it to signing day. Doesn't seem like a kid who likes the recruiting process and is kind of quiet about it.

That would be my guess but it is still very very out there. The CB is by the Gopher247 guy. I seriously would like to know why he's CBing him to Arky.

I just checked Wisco's roster and they have 3 kids from St. Paul. A RS frosh and RS J from Cretin Derham and a kid from Tartan. 6 total on roster from Minnesota. The Bielema connection could make sense but it just looks like the Gopher guy trying to make a crazy prediction and score some CB points.

Just Steve saying that per a really good source it seems like ND is team to beat.

Other teams mentioned as under consideration are: Michigan, Penn State, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC... weird to see no Ohio State listed but 4 California schools.

I always read the kid's comments around this time, and think holy cow, ND must be killing it and will have a top 3 class this year. Everyone we want seems to have us in their top 5 right now. Then back to reality 9 months later, lol.

Is this year actually going be that year? Or is it that kids always sound optimistic and praise early offers because they're not getting absolutley flattered 24/7 because it's so early, so the early attention from schools is impactful for a short time?

This year seems to be better than most in the early going.

Yeah, we last one that is comparable is probably 2012. We were in on a lot of truly elite guys. Hopefully this class closes much better than that one.

On national signing day, 8 Minnesota football players were awarded FBS scholarships. With a player pool of 24,574 Minnesota athletes. the ratio of scholarships to players is l out of 3072. In contrast, Utah had 25 FBS signings out of a pool of 8,784 players - for a ratio of 1 out of 351. Cornell had better head south for some competition!
