Yea but he is all potential right now, he has to work hard in the weight room and on the practice field to not get destroyed at the college level in the SEC. If he went to bama or ND he would have a much higher chance of being good to great, while at Kentucky he could be very average

thx NDinLA.

interesting story, doesnt suprise me at all.

i've been "cool" on this kid since viewing his first video interview. knew right away he was a bad fit for ND, (and bama too actaully)...always felt he was staying home.

Holy molly. I could only imagine my father's reaction if I ever said something like that to a coach. It would have been something along the line of "Son, you are no longer part of this family. Get out. ". Lol.

I hope Kelly looked at him for about a min in disdain, got up, thanked his mom gracefully and left. Once outside, he naturally put on his 24k gold aviator Ray Ban glasses and walked away like a champion today.

First off the other coach should have left and said forget you.

This is not a huge surprise to me about any of that info.

I had no idea about any of this concerning Elam until reading this thread tonight. Dang, we dodged a bullet. Or maybe Elam is the one who dodged one. If he'd signed with Bama, he'd have had a very rude awakening as soon as Saban & Cochran got ahold of him.

Mokwuah proves to be the better get for us both on and off the field.

Man, no kidding, that's the truth.

Reps to LA, crazy recruiting story. Definitely glad we didn't end up with Elam now.

1. A coach (not ND) who was recruiting Elam made a scheduled visit to his house to pay him a visit and to continue to recruit him. Elam, bringing out his inner Seantrel Henderson, made the coach wait in his car for THREE HOURS while he hung out with his friends. Such a punk-ass move, if true.

He was probably plowing through his dinner and got carried away.

I would highly doubt any kid - including Elam - would make such brash comments to the HC during an in home visit like that, especially considering it was ND sitting in his living room. I could, however, see Elam making a coach sit outside and wait for three hours if the coach was three hours early or something. But then again, we don't really know if that making them wait is true either.

Simple fact of the matter is, we don't know what was said during the in home with Elam. For some to act as though it is true without any evidence other than a friend of a friend of a friend borders a little on spilled milk at this point.

I am jumping for joy that Elam went to UK instead of Bama as I have said several times out here I don't think he will pan out. But I am not gonna condemn him before he even starts. Good luck to him and hope he makes it.

C'mon, T-Town, it's just UK. He's' condemned himself before he's even stepped foot on campus

There was another story line that when Elam was making his "decision" at first he was prepping people (local) to the fact he might not be staying local. He had a very close ND connection. I am not going to go back and look it all up, but I always wondered why when he first started hinting the impression was he was more interested with ND or even Bama, and then the "decision people weren't going to like" became UK. Now this makes sense. I think he was going to leave UK behind like a used condom, until he found out his bull didn't work at a real school. Thanks LA!

I read LA's story as, Elam made it clear through his actions that he felt it was Kelly's job. Kelly isn't an idiot. He had to see the writing on the wall with Elam and McKenzie, especially after some of the previous fiascos.

And in the final analysis, any recruits long term success has more to do with their work ethic and their ability to grow themselves into the person they need to be, developing off and on field skills.

Maybe. But the do have a great S&C coach and don't forget who their HC is. He has put more than a few good ones in the NFL in the past - especially on the defensive side of the ball. At this point, Elam's success will depend more on Elam and his work ethic than UK's won-loss record during his career.

The ND connection was through his HC in high school iirc. Big Irish fan I believe.

i think this worked out best for all involved, as i i think UK gives the kid the best chance out what his options were to have a punchers chance at the league.
staying close to home is what this kid needs, he woul have washed out/had too much "on field off field" difficulties at ND and Bama IMO.

i never get "mad" if/when a local kid stays home

Bullet dodged. Elam needs to get his shit together. If any of that stuff is true he's in rude awakening. Glad BK ended it there.

No he doesn't. He is a classic big fish, little pond type kid. If he gets his shit together I will be very surprised. More than likely he'll be at UK for 3 years, get coddled and taken care of, accumulate about 6 total academic credits before declaring for the draft early. He may make it on football alone, but he better hope he has a long NFL career. If not, he'll be lucky if the Colonel can give him a night supervisor job at KFC.

A man that big makes a living taking bribes to get into the local clubs as a bouncer, or he ends up as a security guard on the nightshift eating a bucket of the Colonel's favorite. That would be his career path without the NFL in the future. So, yeah, he better get his crap together.

Man, I actually used to like you, as I always appreciate the insights of a rival fan. But you're getting REAL comfortable around here now, defending your school's pathetic oversigning and now questioning info as if you have never ever followed recruiting.

You couldn't envision that??? Seriously? Have you ever met an entitled, spoiled, never-been-said-no-to teenage superstar in his own mind who thinks he has the world in his hands? I'd think not. There's PLENTY of kids who do stuff like that and far worse. You think recruits haven't straight up asked for money? You think a recruit hasn't told a coach, "Bama is giving me this much $$$, so how much are you going to give me?" I cannot believe you actually believe what you wrote up above. Elam asking for coaches to make sure they keep him eligible is peanuts compared to the $$$ kids and their families are asking for. Seeing as how often Bama has been caught cheating, you might want to open your eyes a bit more.

This is the type of crap that no guest should be able to spew. Spilled milk? Haven't you been following the thread? I was done with this kid a LONG time ago. Try October, when we were still in his top 3 and he was spouting all kinds of love towards ND. I had heard about his attitude and once Sampson went and saw him play live and reported what he saw, I was really done.

And eff you with this 'friend of a friend of a friend' bs. This info came from a coach on the Irish staff. People on this site don't make shit up for the sake of drama, and I certainly don't either.

Again... if there is proof Elam said what he did... then put it out there. And if Bama is cheating and you have proof... put it out there.

I too, never cared much for Elam in the recruiting cycle and have posted as such several times. I was overjoyed that he chose UK and not Bama as I think he will not pan out.

As far as getting comfortable out here and posting some things that may challenge the "conventional wisdom", I simply try to add to the conversation. If what I add is not acceptable to you, then hit the ignore button. Most IE posters are very cordial, engage in the conversation even when we may disagree, and laugh when it's over. ACamp is a great example. We disagree on our teams but agree on most everything else. And we may throw a few bombs at each other from time to time, we usually laugh it off and go on.
