Had to write a Sci-Fi short for a class, used Mokwuah as the name of a dwarf moon. 2nd team all american name right there, spoiled by the blandness of pete.

Can his nickname be Dwarf Moon now?

Mokwuah Finds Best Fit

Kid could be a monster:
Mokwuah currently stands at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, but Clark isn’t sure how big he’ll be in the end.

“He’s still growing into his body,” the coach said. “He’s put on so much weight, height and weight, since he’s been here and he’s still going up. I don’t even know where he’s going to top out at. He’s got a good pedigree.”

He's the type of player that would go to Rutgers and in 4-5 years he's being drafted on day two and we're like "I've never heard of him."

I was thinking the same thing this morning. He would be one of those typical Rutgers players who get's picked in the 2nd/3rd round and you are like "where did he come from."

Bj Raji anybody? I know he didn't go to Rutgers but the same applies.

The quote I liked from that ISD article was this one on what sold him on ND:

“I think it was just hearing how passionate they are about the school and what they’re doing there,” Clark said. “Pete will fit in, I feel, wherever he goes. So many defenses are multiple now, there’s a role for so many different kinds of players out there.

“He’s going to get a great degree, there’s a great coaching staff and hearing how passionate they were about what they do, I think it sold it for him. He’s got to work. Regardless of where he goes, he’ll have to work to get on the field. He understands that and is looking forward to it.”

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
A good-sized prospect at this stage in both height and bulk. May need to rework body composition some, but could still potentially add good size and displays good raw strength. Can show some flashes, but initial quickness and top-end speed is below average-to-average for size.
Versus the Run
Can jar blockers with initial punch, but needs to continue to improve hand usage and work on consistently shooting them and extending. Has size and strength to take on a blocker and hold his ground, but pads can rise upon contact and needs to work to better manage his pad level. Displays solid lateral mobility and flashes the ability to get off a block when active with hands to make a play in short area.
Pass Rush Skills
Can knock blockers back and press the pocket and when active with his hands flashes the ability to be able to knock a blocker off balance, but looks to lack a plan and needs to better develop the use of his weapons and displays marginal ability to redirect and counter and will likely be more of a one-dimensional power rusher.
Toughness/Motor
Doesn't always maximize the size and strength he possesses but comes across as a physical kid who gives effort. Range is marginal, but will turn and trail the play and can be a hard hit wrap-up tackler.
Bottom Line
Mokwuah is a defensive tackle prospect who can develop into a tough and strong interior presence. We don't see an immediate contributor as he needs to continue to improve technique, but can grow into a solid part of DT rotation and potentially a starter at the FBS level.

Posted in the Garnett thread, but I think it should be here too so that we all can admire the absolute monster of a young man Pete Mokwuah is.

Also gonna put a huge I doubt it stamp on the 305. If I were a 6 flags guess your weight guy I would say a light 340.

He could twist Garnett in a knot

We got our man!!! :)

Are these two sentences supposed to be related or just two random music vs on the same general topic?

I ask because I've never seen feet mentioned relative to appetite.

This kid is an absolute monster and is easily the steal of the year. Springmann, Jones, and Mokwuah looks like pretty good depth at NT to me! Add in Garnett and we have the depth to play those multiple fronts much easier. Just an overall great pick-up!

I have seen feet and steak mentioned in the same sentence. It seems that in some French Colonial outposts, by the time the steak made it to be prepared, it was rather tough, so the native population was enlisted to "stomp" on the meat as the French did grapes. Thus the foot-filet.

A) I want to know how that preferred walk-on is doing;

B) Am I crazy or does Peter Mokwauh have better measurable that Louis Nix did coming in?

I am also curious to know how well Dickerson is doing. I haven't heard anything one way or the other.

I think Mokwuah is coming into the program in much better shape than Nix and will be given an opportunity to see the field at some point during the season as Lou needed that first year to get in game shape. Mokwuah just looks the part right now and if he can hold up at the point of attack watch out! Feeling really good about this one.

As far as initial conditioning goes, I think Peter has more above the neck at this point, too.

And that could make all the difference. Once you understand you can achieve.

It will be interesting to see, but I would look for him to have a bigger earlier affect on the Irish D-line than Nix did. No disrespect to anyone.

The thing I think Nix has that Mokwuah lacks is that quick burst. He could split the double team a lot, which just wreaked havok. OTOH Mokwuah could end up way bigger than Nix and just be an amazing immovable object.

kid is smaller than Stockton so don't expect much

Stockton was barely 5'11".

Dickerson is 6'2", same height as Sheldon Day and close to the same weight (Day 290, Dickerson 280).

In addition, he's only been with the team and weight program since August.

I have seen a lot of these guys close enough to get a good idea on what is going on.

Sheldon Day definitely does not look his height. But he has that kind of massive build that throws you off.

I don't even know if Tyler Stockton is 5'11". I think I am enough taller that it is noticeable to me. And I am 5'11" on my best day.

I saw who I believe to be Marquis last fall, and he looked more like 6'3" to me. It looked like he had a couple of hairs on Louis Nix, who is given every benefit on his height.

And, finally, that was what I was wondering. After eight or nine months in the program, are we starting to see results. One of the starters in a patented Jack Nolan 60 seconds feature, mentioned him, in the context of being a wild man, or a great guy. I didn't know if that was about on the field or other stuff.
