Will you start getting attacked once your shield is down even though you haven't joined a clan?

Shield - once timer is up, you are open to attack. Not sure what you mean by "cool down"... just the timer?

You will start getting raided the moment you have no shield... clan or no clan. It's not a big deal.

On the shield, like for a one day shield for example, it says cool down is 5 days. I didn't know what that meant.

Tip on Defense: to the extent you can, try to layer your defenses. You don't want an attacker to be able to break through just one wall and have direct melee access to your defensive weapons.

I just skip over bases with a well defended upgraded mortar. My spells aren't powerful enough yet and I don't have hog riders that can quickly get to them and destroy them. The ones I do attack are just for farming.

If you spend your gems on a one day shield, you can't do it again for five days. That's your cool off answer.

Also, don't waste gems on a shield. Its a waste. You get an automatic shield after you're attacked.

I always found at lower levels when you don't have enough walls, the best thing to do was actually leave your base "open" and just wall off your defenses (especially mortar) with squares. Allows your defenses to defend the entire time instead of getting mowed down the first time your walls are breached.

At higher levels, I've seen a couple interesting defenses. One thought is putting your mortars/x-bows in a circle in the middle... and then doing "pods" around the outside. It makes it very easy to break into 1 or 2 pods and take the resources, but you're never going to completely destroy a base. I personally stick my TH outside my base so that trophy pushers will raid it for an easy 1 win and I'll get a shield and my resources are untouched. Behind that, I triple layered my walls/defenses around storages. When I log back on I can easily make up the trophies if I so choose with a couple raids.

Only on builder huts until you get to at least 3. Then it's up to you whether to save up for #4 or use them for whatever you want.

So when you get attacked do you lose all the money they take? If so doesn't that make it really hard to build a large bank roll? I'm assuming those with the most money get targeted.

I think only like 10% of your total resources are available for looting.

Or something like that.
