Man do I hate that we have to close out the recruiting season every year when ND weather is at it's worst. And don't give me any of that shit about the campus is beatiful blanketed in snow. Just venting...I'm done. I hope the staff knocks it out of the park.

So true man.... so true... it's no big deal for kids from the Midwest or Midatlantic, but when you're talking about Florida or Louisiana or SoCal kids who have no idea what to expect, there could not be a worse time of year than mid-January.

Oh well. Got to make the best with what you've got. But weather does matter for everything including the ability to just get out and see the campus comfortably. On the bright side... no polar vortex!!! Wooo!

Especially when this is his definition of cold:

Oh well, I don't think it will be too bad, and I'm holding out hope he's Irish.

Nothing like a good hike across South Quad on a 15-degree Friday night. Just hope it's not windy.

Recruiting pitch: "Son...do you have NFL aspirations?" Alexander: "Yes." BK: "Well, you are going to play more than half of your games in terrible weather...no better place to prepare than ND."

And other schools are saying "You plan on playing in the NFL? Well half those games will be in cold weather, so why not go to school somewhere you can enjoy the weather year round?"

Damn...you're right...but he won't be prepared then and then have the Peyton Mannning stigma of "can't play in cold weather"...He can spend his time in nice weather in the summer...

In 2013 we had 50 kids from the south or western coast on the roster ... I think the stigma of terrible weather as a recruiting flaw is dead

There are still recruits who say no to ND because of the weather. Just a fact of life.

But as much as I hate that the weather is bad right now, they might as well feel it now and see if they can handle it. If they visit now and still choose ND, they have a much better chance to be lifers over someone from a warm weather city who has never dealt with the cold. So it's not all bad. If they like ND in January, they'll love it more when the weather turns..

Ego Ferguson didn't come to ND in part because of the climate. Ended up at LSU and has declared for this years draft. He'd have been a Boss on ND's line.

Which isn't true. He beat KC at KC in the playoffs on a 15 degree day. He also beat Denver at Denver in a blizzard.

No real info out there. Visit is going very well according to II. We officially extended an offer. That's about it.

There really wasn't anything in Loy's update. II's had the tidbit about getting the offer. They'll be more tomorrow when he leaves campus.

We really need this guy. Hope we can reel him in.

On another note, I'm eager to see what BVG thinks about Jalen Brown. I feel he is by far our most physical corner ala Kendall Moore at ILB (they both lay the wood) and I think that given a chance could be a player for us.
