Shame too. He is the only guy I think we lose, and it was for totally reasonable, unexpected and not to be helped circumstances. Definitely not the usual decommit we have, and certainly not one I can be upset with the kid for.

Hopefully we add a couple other studs to the fold before NSD, especially one more DL now, and keep the rest of the class intact.

You trollin' me for double or nothing? lol

I don't care what level of danger his father is in. It's his life and if he chooses to be closer in the case of things turning worse, then fine. No reason to be a complete asshole about the kid. Did you honestly think that the general public would think those comments were appropriate? I like you, man... but damn are you offensive sometimes. That's saying something coming from me of all people.

Yeah, I hear that. I am not trying to be offensive, but definitely some things I think but don't say out loud in real life I filter a little less in this forum. But I agree with you that he should go where he wants. I even said that in my post. I just think he is using his father's illness as an excuse. I honestly feel that way. I wish I had said it more sensitively, or maybe not at all. But it is the way I feel.

I've been through a lot of shit, some of it with very bad timing. I don't understand not putting your head down and staying the course when the shit is swirling around you, and I definitely don't respect using unfortunate events as an excuse to do something you don't want to own. If he wants to be at UCLA, he should own it. That was my only point. I really am sorry if I offended anyone.

Don't you think almost all of the deaths are because it goes undisguised and untreated, and that the reason it is the second most deadly is because if how common it is? What percentage of American men get brain cancer? Based on my experience with it, I just have a hard time thinking of it the same way as most of you guys apparently do. It's just something you deal with.

I do hope his father gets well. I'm not evil. I guess I just think it sounds like an excuse to me if I'm being honest. (Which, by the way, is fine. Kid should go to school where he wants. I actually would respect him more if he just did what he wanted and didn't need to also be told he was a hero for it.)

I actually don't have an opinion either way. To support your cause, I think I read that 80% of men who die in their eighties had prostate cancer and didn't know it.

Thought this guy had a chance to play right away. It's a shame, but you have to do what you think is best for you. If that means being closer to your family, then so be it.

I know it sucks to lose a kid at a needed position, but in the last 3 years we have got Tranquill, Williams, Bryant, Redfield, Fuller, Randolph, Golson, Tuitt, Smythe, Hounshell, Jarron, and probably some I missed from decommitting. It goes both ways.

I didnt see too many people upset over Williams or Tranquill flipping. Or ND recruiting kids that go to other schools. I agree it isnt ideal to lose kids, but at the sametime, ND is doing just fine getting kids to flip Irish.

How many of those were this late in the game though? Ishaq and Tuitt?

Isaac Rochell is easily 270, and benched 225 26 times when he first reported. I think he could slide inside as well if need be.

Plus, I think people are forgetting Dickerson sat out all year with a fractured vertebrae in his back. He would need significant work in the weight room in the spring just to even be back where he was pre-injury, let alone ready to play on Saturdays. I think he was a RS next year no matter what.

Rochell can play inside like Tuitt wouldve I guess, but thats still only 3 able scholarship practice bodies right now as backups in Springmann, Hounshell and Hayes. Thats very thin for this point. This isn't just about Dickerson but the position in general. We are very thin there and need at least one more DT to not be in the red at the position.

Weis could recruit in Cali. why can't Kelly?

I think I might have to root for USC when they play UCLA...

I totally agree we need another guy capable of playing inside in our schemes. I just don't think it needs to be a pure nose. That's all.

I vaguely recall a situation regarding a 5:s: DL from California that UCLA continued to recruit after he signed an LOI to ND.

Jesus Christ.. Outside of the ignorance that head coaches aren't the recruiters and that this is (I believe) Denbrock territory:

Josh Atkinson
Troy Niklas
Max Redfield
Amir Carlisle
Joe Schmidt
Tyler Luatua

And in the race with Juju Smith and Michiah Quick?

Yeah he can't recruit in California whatsoever.

Let's hope UCLA stays away from our offense we plan on signing in 2015.

He said last 3 years. We have been screwed later in the game far more than we have benefited. Especially if you include EV.

Ah, didn't realize it was 3 years max. Kiel was brought up, that's about as late as it gets, save EV. Tuitt and Houshell were also flipped in January.

We're going to be forced to the 4-3 as basic whether we like it or not. Stuff like this decommit is nailing the coffin. Moreso, inability to attract the big NTs is.

3-4 REQUIRES the NT to be able to stone movement by the center even when helped by a guard. Lou could. Sometimes Kona could [surprisingly]. If they sent three at Lou, OK, he moved, but three blockers were then gone. Only linebacker incompetence could then save the offense's day.

Two DTs don't have to "stone" as much, but rather clog and wrestle through. Guys like Springmann and Jones and Day and probably Hayes et al can do that. That would mean guys like Ishaq and Romeo pretty much permanently with hand-on-ground.

I'm fine with that. Just get the damm new DC here to say so.

What the hell, did UCLA do some backhand favor for ND years ago that now requires an annual defensive tackle tribute as repayment?

Sucks but I cant help but thinking that the switch to Under Armour has something to do here..........

Off the top of my head:

Greenberry, Vanderdoes, Dickerson, Decker, Darby

All in January or later I'm pretty sure.

I am not sure that Tuitt counts. He was ours then he flipped to GT for 2 days and then flipped back to us. We didn't really "steal" him from GT.
