I had a Green Mountain French Vanilla K-cup, is that like drinking Miller Light to coffee snobs?

I must say that the Gevalia brand k-cups are pretty good. My favorite is still Starbuck's Pike Place. I like my coffee like I like my women strong and hot!

I can remember back in the late 50's when I was a little tike. My grandfather was a poor coal miner and shaved with a straight razor. He would put a little water in his shaving cup then take his brush and lather up. Good memories.

I used Gillette razors for years until about 6 months ago. Switched to the Shick Quattro and like it much better. Also have used noxzema for a long time too as shaving cream. Numbs your face just enough to not feel the sting of shaving but not enough to cut your throat :)

Also like 8 O' Clock coffee beans ground and steeped in a Starbucks "French press" as an everyday coffee

Not at all. 2013 was a good year for French Vanilla K-cups. The aroma of the bouquet is reminiscent of a warm summer evening through the forests of Madagascar.

I came across a similar bouquet while in the Gobi desert. I spent several nights amongst the nomadic peoples and was introduced to the fine feel of camel suede.

I think somebody probably has too much time and/or money on his hands to be "in" to these things. Three quick questions, did you take your ascot and smoking jacket off to do either one of these things? Were these things done before or after your manicure? What the fuck is a "Thayer's rose witchazel?"

I usually drink Folgers (or 8 O'Clock, when I'm feeling randy)...already ground, in a coffee pot that I'm not even sure of the brand. I don't really shave (I'm usually bearded), but when I do, I like this fabulous razor called a Gillette Sensor Excel, with Gillette shaving gel.

Everybody stay tuned though, I will be rating handkerchiefs and driving gloves later this week.

I think Oscar Wilde would tell him "You can start by acting like a man!!!"

Here in Minnesota women don't wear white after Labor Day and men are given license to look like hell while growing the traditional winter beard. As for me, I usually shave mine after two consecutive days when the high temperature is 70 or above.

Wiz, I lived in Orlando from 1963 until I headed to South Bend in 1970 and then again for three years after I graduated. I'm much less inclined to poke fun at Floridians who complain about "freezing" when it dips below 50. A damp cold can be very uncomfortable --- especially if your wardrobe isn't up to snuff.

I broke down and bought a car after a 10 day stretch of temps hovering around freezing. Riding my bike was dangerous with my eyes watering so much. I admire (but SMH) when I see folks cycling through the ice and snow here when it's 20 below.

Yeah I need to find a happy medium. I'm from Rhode Island and the Mrs. is from Pennsylvania so we actually wish it were colder down here. It's tough getting into the spirit of Christmas when it's 78 degrees and you decorate by wrapping C9 bulbs around your palm trees.

I had to wear a coat today. That makes me sad. Then I looked at the main page of Yahoo and saw the temps up north - all is good.

I don't use shaving cream anymore. When I travelled, I tried to carry as little as I could, and I discovered using the hotel conditioner worked great as shaving cream(I shave head and face in the shower) so I have completely stopped with the shaving cream.

Razor cartridges are crazy expensive though. I do the Costco thing and buy in bulk.

Minus 18 when I got up today.

I have a Merkur double edge safety razor that I love. I don't have to spend a ton of dough on the replacement blades and think I spent $8 for 100 derby blades a year ago.

How did you transition to the straight razo? I've thought about it but haven't really looked into it much.

Why don't all you cool kids go down to the local non mainstream coffee shop and drink some underground locally brewed middle eastern coffee and talk about your feelings?

I never really transitioned; I still use both. If you want to try out a straight, the best bet would be to find someone that sells shave ready razors for reasonable prices (don't trust ebay). Either way though, you probably won't save money over the DE @ $8/year. A straight can last a long time, but you have to maintain it which costs $ or time.

With, against, across, all of the above. It's personal preference.

Making an assumption here since you're part Greek, but is your beard real thick? I ask because my beard is thicker than shit. That's the main reason I usually have a beard. I HATE SHAVING! And since I'm at a point in my life where I don't have to shave every day, I choose not to. Plus, the acceptance rate of beards has not been this socially acceptable since probably the 19th century, so I gotta ride the trend while I can.

Is it easier/better shaving with a straight blade? Disregard this post if your beard isn't thick. Or if your beard, when kept, resembles that of a member of Color Me Bad.

Your assumption would be correct. I also have cowlicks that make shaving quite difficult. For years I would cut myself every.single.morning. It got real old and having a beard didn't help, since I would still have to trim my neck (where the cowlicks are). So one day, my college roomate offered to let me try his shaving kit (dude is a hillbilly-cowboy, so Riki's dumbass "hipster" comments crack me up. Straight shaving is probably the least hipster thing I can think of) and I never looked back. I occasionally don't use it when traveling (ie carry on), since its impossible to carry on a blade onto a plane. But if you have thick facial hair, cowlicks or just hate cutting yourself. The straight razor is the only way to go.

It's better for your skin too... for the hipsters...
