I don't have a problem at all with him stating his beliefs. I also don't have a problem at all with him,and his family, living what they believe. I applaud him for standing up for his beliefs.

And the media,along with A&E, have tried to make him alter his beliefs and the show so as not to offend anyone. How about picking up the remote and changing the channel if you don't like it.

That's actually the point. He and his family are entitled to their beliefs. A&E thinks it reflects poorly on them and that people might stop watching them as a result. A&E is also entitled to fire him as a result.

While in theory that is great, it never works that way. Why should we care if a politician or movie star is having an affair, but you had better believe everyone is going to read it and have an opinion on it. We as a country have some odd voyeuristic tendencies when it comes to movie/TV stars, athletes, politicians, etc. We want to know more and more about them and then we find something we don't like and bitch about it. Look at all of the gossip magazines and how much they sell.

I may not agree with it or like it but it is what it is and believing that it should be different isn't going to change it.

I'm not sure what you think "equate" means. If I said I like apple pie, french fries, and ham sandwiches, I'm not saying I think an apple pie is the SAME THING as a turkey sandwich, or even that I like it as much.

He also said blacks were better under Jim Crow laws, which is a much worse comment. I am surprised that's not the comment that was getting him in trouble. That's a terrible comment.

That's NOT what he said and you intentionally paraphrasing him inaccurately is disgusting. He said he knew black people in the segregated south when he was growing up, that he worked along side them, and that everyone was generally happy.

Actually it shouldn't matter since Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses, but Leviticus has still let people oppress and hate homosexuals for a long time now. Just pointing out the ridiculousness of saying hating gays in Biblical. What is in Leviticus should not have any effect on what Christians believe and what groups of people they think are living in sin.

Anyone who doesn't think this show is 99% about the money has their head completely buried in the sand. The Robertson's don't do the show to teach us about God, or show family values, they do it for money. Just like the duck calls they sell, they sell them for money.

Why do I have that opinion? I was on the road the other day and stopped in a convenience store, only to see a huge display of Duck Dynasty Jerky.

Then I had to pickup a few things at the local Wal-Mart, and there was a huge cutout of Si Robertson promoting eyeglasses.

With that said, I don't fault them one bit for the creation of their empire. Make your bank, invest in your children's future, and strike while the iron is still hot.

I prefer my reality TV to be unscripted, but that is nearly impossible to find these days. I love to hunt, but this show just isn't my cup of tea......except for the Si golfing episode- that was great.

And I'm not sure intentionally spilling ice cream all over the back seat of a truck is the best thing to show kids on tv, especially if it is considered to be a "family values" show. Not exactly something I'd laugh about if my kids did that in my truck, but then again, they know better.

To point 3) of wooley's first post in the thread....I find the show entertaining, yes cheesy at times but all in all it decent wholesome TV that I dont have to worry about changing the channel when my children come in the room. The don't express the controversial opions on the actual show, they we asked by A&E about their lives and it's THEIR lives. There most be a lot of people that enjoy seeing them (or have broken remotes) or the ratings would not be so high.

Without wanting to get into issues of doctrine, etc., I would say that since Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses and the prophecies of the Old Testement, we now live under a new covenent. And instead of quoting Leviticus, we should be looking at Corinthians when it comes to what the Bible says about sexual issues.
