Awesome. Was hoping this wouldn't be a lost year for him, as Rees hasn't been one to throw deep very often.

If he can block, he's going to play a lot this year IMO. Probably the only thing holding him back.

Golson will change this in a major way!

Golson was 1/6 on that post route to Brown we kept running in 2012. Rees has been much more accurate with his long ball this season. I doubt Brown's issues are QB-related.

I feel like he doesn't get separation on anything but that post route. He may need to become a more polished receiver if we ever want to take advantage of that world class speed.

Isn't he one of the fastest, if not the fastest guy on the team? (Faster than GAIII)

Hope we're able to work out any kinks with him and utilize him more.

Didn't Golden Tate have the same issue his first couple of years? It seemed that everything he caught were jump balls on go routes.

It seems the slot receiver which I think Brown would be best in is taken by running more two TE sets. Plus he just isn't as good as DD or TJ right now.

Next year is gonna be a do or die season for Chris. With TJ gone, he has one chance to snatch up a starting spot with all these talented underclassmen behind him.

Even with the large number of underclassmen that will be pushing him, I don't think it's necessarilly "do or die" for him in terms of being a starter next season. I think that as long as Golson progresses from where he was in 2012, there will be far more opportunities for multiple receivers to get involved than we have seen this season. So even if he doesn't step up into the spot vacated by TJ and isn't officially a "starter," he should still see plenty of opportunities.

But like I said, that depends on Golson and if BK is willing to unleash the air attack.

Yeah, i didnt read the last page. But CB will benefit from a QB that can throw the 25yard + passes. He has improved his route running, but needs to take the next step. He is getting in and out of breaks better and gets off the better. The next step is getting the route separation and fine tuning the finer parts of selling one route while running another. He will be fine. The GO and Post route are his best routes bc there are few that can hang with him in open field. I think you may FINALLY see that Vertical passing game next year. I think something similiar to what Baylor runs is coming to the bend next fall. There is too much speed at WR to keep things in a 20 yard box and when they have gotten the chance to go deep this year its worked. Those chances have been few and far between with the run game being so so. Zaire can extend the defense with his arm and running ability. Itll be a different passing game next year.

TP can rant like his usual homer/ super optimistic self, but why the hell did he put Zaire instead of Golson.

Thanks bro.

Im just saying the QBs on the roster next fall, Golson, Zaire, Kizer, all can throw a consistent deep ball. There isnt going to be a QB that cant run that vertical pass game. You get 1-on-1 matchups vs speed its over aka Baylor. ND has speed and athletes that can get past a db and the safety.

I think Golson will be back and start, but he has a long way to go before winning that job. Zaire isnt going to just let him have it and Golson has to win back the trust of the staff to be counted on as a starting qb. He can say the right things but when push comes to shove he has to prove that he is going to be the starter and not have a doubt of worry. They cant be 80% convinced he isnt going to make a bad decision. There is a LOT riding on the 2014 season and you need someone you can count on.

Thank you for the clarification, TP! Meltdown averted...for now lmao

Yea...I agree. Would add that w/TJ s ability to adjust and make freakish catches...and DD doing that every 3rd or 4th target...very little room for all out speed when the game was...where in the hell is he going to throw it this time...there just aren't many guys as a soph who can do what TJ and DD have had to do...

Brown goes crazy with someone who could hope to outthrow him when the afterburners are on...If TR caught the snap and heaved it w/o a read, he might hit Brown in stride ...EG has shown his arm allows him to make a read and put it on Brown DEEP. I don't know MZ...spring game was ok...was not instantly gawking at his arm...

I hope to see him work on a nice double move or a stop and go route. You would think that would be an advantage Brown.

TP made two great points. All the qb's ND will have that have sailed over the horizon (the horizon being 2015) have arms capable of delivering the long ball (Accurately and without fumbling). We haven't had that in South Bend for three years? Almost.

I hope Everett makes it. I really do. But I am not going to trust him until he proves himself. That is a major leadership position, on a team that can go places. And major leadership positions are not where you want someone who takes short cuts. What we have is a skilled junior. But Everett is a junior, and he has shown precious little for everyone to feel he is a sure thing to get his mojo working the right way on the field.

I'll admit it: I've never seen it with this guy. I'm not high on our receiving corps as a whole, to be perfectly honest, once you get beyond Daniels. They'll all look better b/c of Golson, but I'm not optimistic about any of them for this year.

That said, if Chris Brown doesn't catch another ball in an ND uniform he will still have a legacy in my mind b/c of his role in the most beautiful, important play of the 2012 season. I will always remember that.

And on the other stuff, I'm hoping, praying, that he and the others prove me wrong.
