I don't think the staff will fill the class up with depth guys like this though, not yet. We just want to get a couple more high-upside guys for depth purposes, and then we will focus on guys with star power to round out the class. It's not really feasible to do it the opposite way, since so many elite players don't make final decisions until late in the cycle or even on NSD, so by the time they decide we won't have time to scramble. I think the staff is just being prudent by getting the depth guys first, and then it will push for the stars. If things go as planned, then in December and January we can full-court-press guys like Nyles Morgan or other stars who we don't even know we have a shot at at this point in the cycle (a la Eddie Vanderdoes or Greg Bryant), without having to worry about depth.

I don't believe this. What star linebackers are we in it with?

I am with Wooly on this one. It is almost a desperation offer. Lets be real fellas if he was that athletic the would be many more schools at least ways showing interest. A 2 star /low 3 star that could end up seeing descent playing time if we don't pick up our game on recruiting the position. This isn't how you compete with Bama, LSU, Ohio State. And I like Chris Brown just as much as you all do but look how he has turned out so far. It has really been a disappointment with that speed and he is getting less looks the some of the freshman. Like i said i really like Brown and want to see him do well. I imagine that these twins are great young men but that doesn't mean they need a ND football offer.

I'm sorry. Are you upset that out of a deep wide receiver group a true sophomore hasn't taken charge of the position group? The only guys who get A LOT of looks when we throw the ball are TJ (54 catches) and Davaris (35 catches) who are both upper classmen. There's no reason to think Chris isn't developing nicely. The only other guy from Chris Brown's class who has caught the ball is CJ Prosise...who has 5 catches to Brown's 10.

Freshman WR catches:
Will Fuller - 6
Corey Robinson - 5
James Onwualu - 1
Torrii Hunter Jr. - 0

And I didn't even mention our talented TEs.

You can say you don't like this offer, but you seriously trying to argue that Chris Brown is being surpassed by all the freshman and saying that that diffuses any argument that says coaches are better judges of talent than sites, us, etc. is bogus.

No, he isn't disappointed that a Sophmore hasn't taken charge, he's just a regular negative Nancy. His posts are obnoxious day after day. It is just tiring to read them. "If he was that athletic, more schools would have shown interest"? Are you freaking kidding me? Have you watched the tape, or are you going off of what Wooly said BEFORE HE WATCHED THE TAPE? Good God I get tired of reading the constant complaints! Watch the film! This kid is explosive. The Shembo comparison and the Deon Hollins comparison from last year are spot on. This kid has tremendous upside. Let me guess without even going to the thread, he doesn't like the Bonner offer either. Must be a lowly 2 or 3 star. Forget that the kid came to camp and owned a bunch of highly recruited OLineman. F'in Grow up.

This.

I'd bet that if Notre Dame were 10-0 right now they'd be all "Wow! Another find by Kelly!"

Still thinks he looks more like Romeo than Hollins or Shembo.

I don't remember Romeo's film looking so violent.

Not big on the Hollins comparison. Hollins just seemed small and fast rather than big and violent.

IMO i think that's part of the problem for some on here. Every low recruit they get to come here most are like "diamond in the rough". Some cases that's very true. Not as much as people on here think it is.

I am not trying to be negative at all. However if the film was so impressive why are the FOOTBALL schools of Texas not noticing him. Or Oklahoma schools that's their back yard.

There are plenty of kids in Texas every year that don't get recruited by those schools who go on to become good players. Texas coaches also were the ones who thought RG3 and Manziel would be better at DB than QB.

1.1 million kids in the US play high school football...can't imagine that none would be missed by ranking services

I dont understand how you can watch the kids film and not be excited with how violently he sheds blocks and makes plays. Kid is a terror. Thats the kind of football player you can turn into a real force.

I don't know, why don't you ask this kid? He obviously didn't get noticed by Texas and Oklahoma schools like Kolin. Just look at the weak offer list and minimal stars. SMH.

Ironic seeing the first response to the original post (excusing the poor grammar and lack of capitalization).

I don't know how I feel about this.

Have you ever made a post that wasn't a joke?

Even though we've never met, I felt like I knew you. Now I'm lost.....

Looks to have above average closing speed. Love how he always seems to be trying to force turnovers. Like many have said he looks bigger than 6"2, maybe that's a number from his jr season?

If the twin brother is similar I say offer both

Last time I checked Stanford, Baylor, Vanderbilt were good schools to play football at. As well as Stanford and Vandy are good academic schools. Corey also was 6'4 as a senior in high school and was pretty raw. Like I said it turns out for some and others don't turn out so well. With his size he had a high ceiling.

He didn't have an offer from any of those schools

I'm not sure either way, but they all have been offered over the bye week. That says something, maybe this:

..but maybe not. Probably a mixture of both. I wouldn't use the word whiffing though.

I'm not so sure that they are, or that they couldn't.

I think Bruce Heggie is 1000x less athletic than this guy. He's more cliche than Danny Woodhead on this forum.

Regardless, I think you might be surprised by the common impact of three-stars in this game. It's not just Kuechly. Hell the nation's #1 defense, Michigan State, is almost completely built with under-the-radar studs. The nation's top offenses, Baylor and Oregon, are by three-star quarterbacks. Mariota specifically had no good offers outside of Oregon (according to Rivals), I think Chip Kelly even built that program off of under-the-radar faaaaast running backs (now, of course, they are supremely talented at RB).

MSU does it year in and year out with 2 and 3 star recruits. No reason why we can't find a few gems in the rock pile once in awhile.

How many championships has MSU won lately?

I agree with this. But to Eddy's point if we find the RIGHT under the radar (i hate star system) kids like msu does to mix with the elite like we can. whereas msu is almost all/majority under radar.

I misread that my bad. They still had interest which mean they liked something about him.

Corey Robinson - Yahoo! Sports

And here is his Rivals page to confirm. Bottom line is they didn't offer so they didn't think all that highly.
