What is a ND yearly tuition worth, $45K? That's a lot of scratch for sucky players at ISU.

Anyways, good for him I guess. RKG, I'd just him rather donate to a childrens charity... in the South Bend area.

Sounds pretty darn solid to ISU, unfortunately.

So, you don't think he's making that donation to assuage the guilt over being a silent commit to ND?

Me neither.

The donation would be much greater if it was ND tuition! Come on, do what's best for ISUWOPA!

This conversation has danced around the absurd with the word fairies to become mostly unintelligible and partly obscure.

The last thing I saw was that the kid was going to take his ISU scholarship money and donate it to charity because he gets free tuition because one of his parents works there. Is that correct? And, can you even do that?

Impressive. The kind of young man you want on your team, ISU got a good one, I'll be a fan of this young man.

Let me know when you figure this out. Only way I could see that work would be if your folks donated to foundation. It's not like scholarship money is paid to you such that you get a check if you get two scholarships. If that were the case, the entire SEC would just have figured it out years ago.

Let's make this clear guys...ISUWOPA is the Iowa State "Walk-on Players Association"...not a real charity. Allen won't actually be donating his scholarship money to a charity. He can either take his scholarship or not. (To my understanding at least.)

This. It's like WOPU at ND... basically just a tongue-in-cheek joke by walk-on players. Giving up a scholarship for a walk-on that needs it more would be pretty heavy though.

Obviously he is going to flip to ND on signing day so ISU is forced to give a walk on the open scholarship.

Better yet, signs to ISU and pleads hardship to transfer to ND. The hardship is some broke walk on who needs the scholarship more than him. NCAA grants the waiver claiming they've heard weaker arguments than that so why not!

Does one of his parent work at the school? ISU might do free education for faculty kids...

Yes. Dude, yes. We are there. But, built on that, even if he does take advantage of free tuition, he doesn't get cash value from the scholarship he is getting to donate to anyone!

As of right now we're a really good plan B. Pmaybe the only official he takes other than to ISU so if something would happen to ISU's staff it would put us in the drivers seat. Family trust coach Elliot.

I just don't know if I could see them firing Rhoads (honestly, who else would they get who is better?), and I think that's the only thing that would change it for us.

Tbh, I'm hopin for McKenzie and quick more then lazard

I think it's tough to compare because they are three different players, but for me it goes Quick (because of his speed and, more importantly, position flexibility), Lazard and then McKenzie. Lazard is the prototypical WR the staff looks for and he has a ridiculously high ceiling.

I agree, however I thinki I'm basing it on the fact that Quick and Mckenzie seem to like and want to be at ND more then Lazard right now, but either way hopefully we get two more receivers.

Quick and McKenzie definitely seem more likely than Lazard at this point.

Check his thread. He's not visiting this weekend because he doesn't have a test score.

Lazard is more likely at this point, IMO.

Lazard is very similar to Brent IMO. Both would be nice because it's always nice to have two of anything, but I am happy with the one we do have.

McKinzie just took the test. It takes a while to get the score back. When he gets the score, I bet he commits.

McKenzie is not visiting because he is not allowed to. He is going to come for the Navy game instead once he gets his test score back.

Thanks. Just catching up on what has apparently been one of the biggest recruiting news days of the year. I've always been optimistic about McKenzie clearing up what he needs to in order to gain acceptance to ND. I know others don't share that optimism and rightfully so, but this no test score thing seems to be a technicality per NCAA rules.

Re: Lazard, he's been tough to read. The decision between ND and ISU seems like a no-brainer, but something tells me Lazard sticks with his commitment unless Rhoades gets canned.

Thats my point of view as well. Be excited to have him but won't blink if we don't.

I don't know, Mckenzie is playing the waiting game but if the test score comes back good, it seems like he will commit on his visit.

Lazard seems to be a long way away from committing. I just don't get what he sees in ISU over ND, but to each his own.

Good points. However I'm just not confident about his ability to commit. Typically when guys have work to do in the classroom and we put off a commitment for an extended period of time it doesn't work out well. Even in the past, our conditional commits (Boom Perkins, Jamel James) haven't panned out in the end. I just think his not taking a test until now raises an academic red flag. That's kinda what I was getting at with "Lazard is more likely than McKenzie."

Given I have no hard evidence of this, just prior history hasn't been as nice as we would have hoped.
