On a different show, Big Mayday said that Notre Dame should be "terribly frightened" of BYU. Brian Griese, the second analyst, couldn't take it straight-faced and laughed hilariously at the top of his lungs. Then he told Mark that the Notre Dame defense doesn't look terribly afraid of anyone.

Mark May's continual [and ridiculously over the top] picking against Notre Dame has simply become his Shtick. He gets his "name" now partially from that, and he's sticking with that gig. Why anyone pays attention to that other than as Griese did [as a moment of hilarity] is beyond me. But he's obviously gotten to many people on this board and is playing them as the fool in his game.

I've come to believe this as well. I almost get the impression after this long that they paint May to be the heel ala professional wrestling. So many of May's predictions and opinions will have some facts burried in them to support his case, but the facts are often inconsequential. While his opinion isn't always off base, I do believe they have him go against the logical choice in some games so they can exploit the friction with Lou for good TV.

To go along with this...if Mayday continually picking against Notre Dame leads to more wins, he can hate the Irish for as long as he wants

Just heard Mark May say we're going to lose to BYU. At this point it is just pure stupidity. Obviously he's there to play off of Lou but come on.... Mark May is an idiot, just be objective please....

I hate Mark May as much as the next guy but how is his schtick any different than Lou always picking ND?

Going with ND 27 BYU 7, Golson will throw the ball all over BYU's injured secondary

I cannot get over the fear of this trap game. Sandwiched between two tough opponents the only thing I can do is worry over it.

Putting them away early will be great. It will really calm me down if we can get up and make them pass.

Keeping some plays close to the vest for OK next is likely. I noticed we haven't run the cutback draw with GAIII, or any back for that matter, too often. Maybe only three or four times all year if I recall correctly. It is usually very effective and I'm wondering if opposition has figured it out, or if we aren't showing that in anticipation of using it more often?

Because going on history, that is usually a very productive play and one I thought would've been outstanding against Stanford's defense.

Coach has only called that play when we have had great success in our roll out passing scheme.

The last time we had that level of success was Miami and we did not need to resort to counter runs to be effective on the ground against the Hurricanes.

Stanford was blitzing the field side linebacker off the edge often to try and disrupt our roll out and staying home backside, therefore that play would have been ineffective.

Hopefully we don't need it this week either and then we see how Oklahoma plans to attack our roll out passing scheme.

ITT: people who still don't understand Mark May's job

right? As soon as we stop talking about him and what he says about our program, then he is not doing his job

I get what his job is. The problem I have with it is that his anti-bias appears to be exclusive to ND. I wouldn't care if he played heel all the time, but ND is the only team, that I can see, that he has a hard-on for.

Sorry to be disrespectful to BYU, but they will not beat this ND TEAM. Maybe in years past other coaches couldn't handle this type of game and prepare their players, but Kelly is different and he has the proper leadership to handle today's situation. I can't wait to watch these guys execute today.

Tom Rinaldi is doing a piece on Gameday about Tommy Rees titled, "The Closer". This is going to be rich.

17-6 at the half
34-6 final go irish!

300 yds ushing for nd today

I'd rather see 300 yards passing. Golson airmailing the ball all over the field would be great for his confidence. It would give OU a little something to sweat over, too.
