I think ND could get smoked... but they do have a solid chance in this game. Arizona State's offense is streaky and dangerous. Need to limit the number of possessions and force big negative plays like Stanford. It will be hard, but doable.

If the defense continues to make progress, the Irish have a solid chance. Like Oklahoma, third downs will be crucial.

On offense... it worries me that we couldn't run the ball at all on Purdue, but watching USC absolutely gash their defense gives me hope. Same with watching Stanford maul them on the ground. Their run defense is pretty darn pathetic. Control the clock and run the ball down their throats like we did to Miami in 2012 and we can knock their explosive offense out of rhythm. Fall behind early and watch out...

I haven't rewatched the Oklahoma game yet, but if I were to claim that Kelly and Co. are running more stretch zone run plays than normal, would I be wrong? I was pretty inebriated (prepping for the OSU night game craziness haha) but I really liked seeing the entire OL move from one hash to the other in one play on a zone run play. I think they're changing the offense up subtly like that, using that athleticism and TE advantage more so than trying to get in on a determined A/B gap. I'm fairly confident Notre Dame can run against Arizona State.

I'd like to see Niklas get involved more often. That'd be my one complaint; he could be getting 5+ touches a game.

Im not trying to be...well me but I honestly no matter what I read see any possible way we can win this game. I just hope we dont get humiliated and dont get too badly hurt because we need to be fresh for USC at home because they are going to be so motivated to beat us and I think they have a great shot at it. I think we honestly may be looking at a 4-8 season.

We can win this game. ASU will crap the bed, like they do in every big game. It's engrained at this point for that program.

*the same can be said about us, so I guess whichever team leaves the least evidence on their sheets come morning will be winners.

with the way we have played this year I think there is a very good chance we drop USC. I think we will beat at least one of the service academies we could beat both but who knows with this team. I think we drop BYU and Stanford we could go 4-8 yes.

This team is 5-0 if they had a defense that wasn't giving up nearly 30 points per game. Tommy isn't a BCS caliber quarterback, but the rest of the team hasn't played up to that level either. The "Bend, Don't Break Defense" has become the "Bend and Break Defense". Tommy's performance in the last two games has been no worse than the rest of the team.

If the defense doesn't step up their game, ASU is going to light up the scoreboard. The team lacks fire and passion. Where are the leaders?

ASU, Stanford, USC, and Pittsburgh are all threats to beat this team. It's gut-check time and the next two weeks will let us know how this team will respond.

I wouldnt say impossible bro. I hope we turn a corner and find ourselves and try to get a decent year. But I wouldnt be surprised at all if we go 4-8 IMO it could happen.

I think with how this team has played so far this season it could happen yes. We could honestly win one or two more games and thats it this season. Do I want it? Hell No! Is it impossible to win more no not impossible but I see a team that reminds me of 08 and 09 where we can let bad teams come away with one against us. Our defense is going to have to play well, and a positive turnover margin would be helpful. But this is a game we should win. They're not really that good, and we're not really that bad. Be cool.
