They are saying it's an MCL sprain and will try and play again. I wouldn't put him on the field considering how pathetic SDSU is

Switching to WR
Can't believe he is doing that instead of transferring.
He could have went anywhere

The next Percy Harvin? Honestly not a bad switch if that's what he projects as a pro.

Urban Liar is a hell of a snake oil salesman.

He may also be in a hurry to get to the NFL and didn't want to sit out a year after transferring.

He graduated. Wouldn't have had to sit out.

Crazy. Urban must have some dirt on him...

I thought I had heard some things about his shoulder not healing as well as they had hoped and that he wasn't able to sling it like he could in the past. The move may have more to do with his inability to come back 100% percent from injury and knowing he has the skillset to make a living at a different position.

Transferring to play QB would have been the worst move he could have made. He was never going to be a QB in the NFL, regardless of how well his shoulder healed.

Now, he gets experience at a position he may play in the league, and it will allow him to be the dynamic playmaker that he is without the added stress of making bad decisions throwing the ball.

Also, he gets to be a key piece on a team that will probably be in the CFB Playoff again.

Transferring to play QB would have hurt him in the future for sure, and probably this season as well.

This is maybe the only time I've ever seen someone opt to NOT transfer in order to continue playing QB and instead stay at the school and switch positions.

I dont think there's many players who were starting QB's at the beginning of one season and then WR's the next. Blake Bell went from starting QB at OU to being the starting TE a season later and got drafted in the NFL. That's the best example i can think of right now

This is exactly right. The funny thing is that the "3 headed QB monster" has never existed. Once Braxton got hurt again, his QB career was over. He isn't going to play QB in the league with 2 bum shoulders, he knows that. This is one case where Meyer wasn't being a creep. If anything, by the sounds of the secret throwing sessions with Barrett, Meyer seemed to be acting in Miller's best interest.

This is maybe the only time I've ever seen someone opt to NOT transfer in order to continue playing QB and instead stay at the school and switch positions.

Happens all of the time. Luke Massa came in as a QB and switched positions. Its more rare to do it at the end of a career like Braxton though. His entire situation is rare though. Most times, they need the guy to play QB still in college like Denard and Nick Marshall. Everyone knew those two wouldn't be QB's in the pros, but their teams kept them there because they were their best option for the position. In Braxton's case, that is not the position OSU is in with Barrett/Jones.

Not only that, but Barrett and Jones are both worlds better as "true" QB's, and athletic enough that they can do most of the things as running threats that Miller did. Switching Miller makes the QB competition easier to manage. Now two guys can battle it out, instead of giving reps to a third that you know isn't as efficient as a QB.

The best thing that happened to OSU last season was Miller getting hurt.

It's the only other one I can think of, but it is a good one. Good catch.

I guess I should have specified starting QBs. Guys like Luke Massa and Devin Fuller and so on are not really who I'm talking about. Just guys who were 1st string QBs.

This is the most impressive thing that Braxton Miller has shown me. He graduated on time at a school that doesn't necessarily encourage its football players to graduate, let alone in 4 years. He came in the same year that Cardale Jones did. If Jones had applied himself in the classroom, like Miller presumably did; Jones would have already graduated and been free to transfer just about anywhere and play this year, as well. We might have been hearing about Jones and Golson locked up in a QB battle.

You guys remember that one guy in class who would bring up relevant things during a teacher's lecture but also caused the instructor to never finish or accomplish anything? That was me then and apparently it's me now.

One of my favorite players during his time at ND. Played with some heart, played with a broken wrist against #1 Nebraska and we could have won. Sucked to see him move to WR, but if he hadn't he may not have had great catches like this one against Michigan State to finally get us a win against the Spartans (0-5 against them under Davie) and he may not have had a successful NFL career.

The catch in the back of the end zone that year to beat Pitt was also magical. That was the first Irish game I attended.

Denard Robinson? How soon we forget!

Heard he made the pro's at wide receiver, but, "Denard sucks!"
