One of my favorite players during his time at ND. Played with some heart, played with a broken wrist against #1 Nebraska and we could have won. Sucked to see him move to WR, but if he hadn't he may not have had great catches like this one against Michigan State to finally get us a win against the Spartans (0-5 against them under Davie) and he may not have had a successful NFL career.

First play that comes to mind for Battle was the same year as the one in the video, but against Florida State:

First play of the game, with the tomahawk chop in the end zone to boot!

Definitely a great play, and an awesome finish  The MSU catch was more memorable for me. I remember being in college, working at a pizza joint and I brought a TV in so I could watch the game. I was so sick of losing to the Spartans, and it was looking like it was going to happen again after Dillingham had to come in. Then Battle catches that pass with a little over a minute left in the game, he's streaking down the field and I'm yelling in the store "Go! Go! Go! YES!" Customers in the store were like "WTF?" Getting that monkey off our back was great, it was similar to Tommy snapping the losing streak to USC in Southern Cal.

Denard didn't make the switch until the NFL. He also is a RB, not a WR now for the Jags.

He actually switched to RB for a while after his injury when Gardner was started over him, in his last year.

(I was figuring that we were talking about moving from quarterback, more than specifically to wide receiver.)

I'm pretty sure Braxton has a kid or two. I assume that might of played into this decision since he's from Huber Heights, Ohio. about 45min from Columbus.

Man, Tony Roberts was awesome on the radio.

Amen, he should have never been let go, he loved Notre Dame football. It was awesome listening to him do the play by plays. There was a better compilation, but the audio was removed, so this was the best I could find on Youtube.

That's classic Roberts. I miss him.

This is the most impressive thing that Braxton Miller has shown me. He graduated on time at a school that doesn't necessarily encourage its football players to graduate, let alone in 4 years. He came in the same year that Cardale Jones did. If Jones had applied himself in the classroom, like Miller presumably did; Jones would have already graduated and been free to transfer just about anywhere and play this year, as well. We might have been hearing about Jones and Golson locked up in a QB battle.
Pretty sure Braxton was 2011 class and Jones was 2012 class. Jones is only a RS Junior.

True. Braxton was thrust into that bad year by starting as a true freshman out of necessity.

Braxton was fun to watch at QB. Not sure it will translate to WR, but he is a dynamic and explosive athelete. It'll be an interesting season.

Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2011 Ohio St. Commitments

Both 2011. Jones had to spend a term at Fork Union Military Academy, to meet NCAA minimum standards. But he enrolled at tOSU in January of 2012. So while he missed the 2011 football season, he could have graduated this past Spring, if he had just applied himself even a little. OSU offers plenty of "self paced, self study" courses for athletes.

I stand corrected. Thanks!
