Cornhusker fans are a special breed. Among the best in sports.

I gotta agree. When we played Nebraska 13 or so years ago, their fans were extremely classy and cool when they were on campus. The same is true when we were there. I only went to the home game, but family I had that went to Nebraska for the away game said the fans were just as welcoming and friendly there. They were even invited to some tailgates.

I wonder if Matt was watching the game with UK and Western Kentucky. Yup, I'm sure he was. Maybe a few more of those and he'll reconsider his probable first choice.

Like we've mentioned in the past, not sure how much winning this year matters but it can't hurt that they suck.

Reason he didn't speak with Kelly is he was supposed to call at 3 and called at 4 so he missed Kelly but talked to everybody else. We continue to tell him that he could be our starting NG for 4 years if he comes.

Losing to WK should be an eye opener. That's an SEC school losing to a D-II school. Shame on them.

Or, an FBS school coached by Bobby Petrino, who is probably a top fifteen coach in the country.

I actually don't see him at Kentucky unless they're willing to really open the checkbooks. Kids say they're willing to give a coach time, but if Kentucky gets only 2-4 wins it'll be very hard to hold the faith when other schools are offering more attractive options. I see him at Alabama or Notre Dame if we pull off another miracle season (which is doubtful). The early PT will be available at ND as much as Kentucky with Nix leaving.

UK football needs to get some of that Calipari money.

As others have noted WKU is 1A but only left 1AA in 2009. Desire that recent move they finished higher than UK in Sagarin's Final 2012 poll. Louisville was ranked highest in KY at #42, WKU was next at #85, with the SEC's UK ranked at #103. Div II, Eastern Kentucky was #118. So UK is close to being the worse program in the state.

Looks like another two win season. I could see them beating Miami Ohio and Alabama State and then getting swamped in every other game

Interesting trend.

UK beat WKU in '08 as 1AA team by 38

Won again in '10 against fellow1A team by 35

Won in '11 by 11

Lost in '12 by 1 in OT

Lost in '13 by 9

Don't know. Suppose it's the, "They don't play real football, they're not in the SEC." UL is that "other" school like GT with UGA.

Yeah, but in this case they're a far better program.

presuming UK's fanbase is far bigger than UL? Similar to a Vandy and Tennessee kind of thing?

Far better no.

GT has won about 60% of their games and 2 NCs.

UL has won a little over 50% of thei games and a couple of defunct Big East Championships. UL has Bridgewater otherwise they're a 7-6 team in recent years like GT. And Bridgewater and Strong will both be moving on to Bigger things.

Now UGA is a much better program than UK but the point was in SEC land in your not in THE Conference (which GT used to be) you're the stereotype stepchild.

Not the same as VU/UT.

UL and UK both public and part of state university system. UL is older by 50 or 75 years. UK has about 25% more students and offers more degrees.so possibly more alumni.

Neither is in Vandy's class academically. Both more like UT academically. A dozen or so years ago UL's student not athlete grad rate was around 30 %. It's probably more like 50% these days.

UK only real run at FB glory was under Bear Bryant in the 50's. He left because of Rupp.

Louisville is a far better program than Kentucky, at least in the memory of a modern-day elite recruit. That is not the case with Ga. Tech and Georgia. That's all.
