Yea, IMO this is far from over. Once NSD comes and goes this kid will be getting a lot more attention and doubt he sticks with this early decision.

Couple guys they would try first before they offer Jones. Don't think we are even in contact w/ him. Lets wait till something happens w/ Hood before we move on to other guys

Mixon and other guys we have already offered. Scarborough, Thomas - Williams etc. There's a good amount of guys we have already offered and preferred to Jones. At this point last year GB would have not been a name most of us expected.

True ... I wonder whether he was turned off by the presence of Hood in the class and the already crowded depth chart at the position though. Definitely worth at least trying to reconnect. He was always one of my favorite RBs for us.

I'd imagine we push for a big name and if we miss, look towards '15. I like our chances with our oline haul recently. Sucks losing Hood, his size/speed is unique and can't be replaced unless your name is Nich Chubb.

SLU Scarborough is going to have a hard time qualifying, much less getting into ND. He is a man child though.

Any idea why this guy doesn't have more/better offers? (like from us). 247 Composite has him as a top 10 RB, but his offer list is mostly second-tier programs. I guess he's not particularly big or fast.

He's not big compared to some of the RB's we've been after.

He camped with us and staff didn't like him a whole lot.

Your right, outside of a few schools formerly known as the Big Ten(and Iowa State), programs have not shown much interest. Premature verbal to Minnesota. I think there is mutual interest here, and that a visit will be scheduled. Invited to the Opening, and both Rivals and Scout list Jones in their top 100. Jeff Jones is one of the better running backs in the class of 2014.

Last night rushed for 152 yards with 4 tds, caught 1 td pass, returned a kickoff for an 85 yard td and had 95 receiving yards. 6 touch downs overall.

Anybody know if he ever talks to Cornell? They are both in the twin cities after all. I like this kid either way, but if going after him would help secure Cornell (not saying that it remotely does in any way), then the better.

I haven't read anything about that. They have went to some of the same camps over the last year but IIRC Cornell traveled with somebody else, name eludes me this morning. He's a good prospect, not sure why he isn't picking up more interest.

He worked out for the staff. They didn't really move forward at all. Ran a 4.77 and had some early grade concerns. I don't think the staff will move forward with Jeff here IMO. If they do I bite my tounge.

Has been getting great reviews and Florida has now reached out and asked him to visit along with MSU offering. Could have had him if we wanted him I believe.

Yes, he camped and ran very, very slow. ND didn't offer... can't really blame them relative to Hood/Starks. Hindsight 20/20?

Never understood the hype. I remember he camped and staff passed. Good luck to him though.

Man, he's really blowing up. I know we aren't in the market for a RB at this point but I wonder if we'll regret not offering.

Do you understand it now? lol

Yeah I do not understand why we didn't offer. At the camp that Jaylon announced his commitment at Jones was named the MVP. Can't get em all but this one is a head scratched for sure.

Steve Lorenz (Michigan 247) said he always thought Jones had a grades issue

I'll say it... we need to offer this kid. We lose Hood and probably aren't getting McKenzie (not saying he would be a RB, but he could have been) so we will have room for another offensive skill player.

He goes to a Notre Dame pipeline school alongside Cornell, who is a must get for this class. He has shown that he can be an impact player in his own right, throw an offer at him BK!

My bad. Classic case of past comments messing up my thought process. Either way, maybe another MN commit could help with Cornell. Especially one that looks like a damn good prospect.
