Releasing a Top 10 today that is supposed to "shake things up."

Scott Schrader from USC 247 is actually saying that he thinks USC will be omitted and this will be the major news. He also thinks we could be a surprise team in this race and we will be included.

Why is he narrowing to 10 now? Shouldn't he be down to 5? Eithier way that's awesomely surprising news. I think he'll end up at OU though.

The thing is, it's only major news to them because they have been incorrect on Mixon the entire time. Here's what I wrote 2 months ago:

The best place to get USC info, outside of people within the program, is from their Rivals premium board. There isn't anyone better. According to them and people I know in CA, Mixon is not going to USC and has all but stated that. The reason being, he's keenly aware of everyone's depth chart. And USC signed 2 5 star RB's last year, and he has told people that while he's not afraid to compete, he realizes that there is only one ball and those guys are really talented as well, so he's looking for a place with a more favorable depth chart (another reason why he won't give ND a serious look). This has been known for months, and the USC fans I know have all but forgotten/given up on Mixon.

So at this point, Mixon is a longshot for USC, and anyone telling you otherwise is wrong, per the people that are the best at following USC recruiting. For that reason I'm not worried about him whatsoever, despite his incredible talent, b/c he won't end up at USC.

The Rivals guy has been saying this for quite some time. Mixon was never going to USC.

Still, glad to see it confirmed. (I'd guess Oklahoma for him right now.)

True, but how many teams run at least 2 backs? I'd bet 70%+ do. It wouldn't be unheard of for 2 studs to split carries for a few year. Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley will for the foreseeable future and Yeldon and Lacy were quite the combo last year.

We're seeing fewer and fewer Le'veon Bells because of the pounding RBs take in high school and college. 30+ carry workhorses are a thing of the past and I think lots of high school RBs are taking notice.

Ipso facto, I could see him at OU despite Ford.

This is a good point. Would have loved to get Mixon along with Hood but I don't have a problem with ND's RB tandem being Bryant/Hood with Folston in the slot. That's some explosiveness that I don't ND has seen in quite awhile. Throw Carlisle in there with 3 years of eligibility left and we have the speed back, too.
