When it was announced he was transferring and got contact from ND I think most of us agreed that it probably wouldn't amount to anything serious.

Well now, per 247 he's visiting Notre Dame so maybe ND is a more serious player than we thought.

Sidenote: 247 subscription is now over :(

Article makes it sound like he is pretty wide open. Will visit a number of schools including ND. I understand why we would want him... he would be a great piece to have in 2014 when it's possible our only QBs would be Kizer and Zaire. Taking Brewer would be ideal versus taking an additional 2014 QB. It'll be interesting to see though if he wants to come compete or if he wants to go to a lower tier program like SDSU or ASU.

Right now, in the event that Hendrix moves on (likely) and Golson doesn't come back (possible... but less likely than not) we'd have to scramble for an additional 2014 QB very late in the cycle... as you simply cannot play a season with only 2 QBs. Adding Brewer means that we could sit tight in that scenario.

This was Davonte's QB in HS, no? Wonder if he up and ends up at UA.

With Sean White committed to Auburn now, I don't really see any downside to taking this guy on if he wants to come, knowing he'll likely be sitting behind Golson and have Zaire coming up behind him. It'll restore some balance to our QB classes and give us an insurance policy for '14 if Golson doesn't return. I'd rather do that than take a flier on a second QB in this recruiting class who'll be stacked up with Kizer behind Zaire and probably won't be able to contribute in '14 anyway.

This is a little puzzling from my insight-dimming distance. This guy clearly left Texas because he sees no playing time there, therefore he's looking primarily for playing time. He must be intelligent enough to realize that if Golson comes back, that playing time is very unlikely to be here.

So... if he wants to start school in the fall, he'd have to roll some low percentage dice. If he's willing to wait until winter, then the Golson situation would manifest then, and he might see things more or less favorably.

Seems like he has particularly hard "foggy crystal ball" problems if ND is involved.

publicly he might have left for playing time but who knows the real reasons. Justin Ferguson left ND for "playing time" when in reality he was booted out. We an only just speculate on the truth, it would be pretty hard for Brewer as a RS-Frosh to walk into any decent program in Div1 and be given a starting job. He is going to have competition wherever he goes.

Also anyone think it unusual Mack Brown gave him an unconditional release from his scholly? I think that is strange, he could go to Oklahoma and end up facing the Longhorns 3 times.

“@jason247scout: Former Texas/Scottsdale Chaparral QB Connor Brewer is headed to the University of Arizona.”

Did he end up not taking those visits or was there just no report? Either way not suprised he ended up at Arizona

Brewer vs. Solomon should be an interesting QB battle to watch in 2014. They also have a USC transfer, Jesse Scroggins, that will start this season and still be eligible in 2014 so I guess it's a 3-man race.

Did not know this till now, the Chapparel HC Charlie Ragle left for a job at Arizona after the 2011 season. Even less surprised Brewer and Neal ended up there now.

Also apparently the Davonte transfer isn't a big one according to Justin Hopkins...

“@JHopkins247: If #Arizona could snag Cayleb Jones, that would give them 3 big transfers w/ Scroggins and Brewer. #BearDown”

Calyleb Jones is also transferring from Texas

Interesting. If I were him I'd pick up US News & World Report and start going down the list starting with Princeton / Harvard / Yale and take the the first one that offers that has his course of study. He's got the educational resume and his family has $$$ so scholarship means nothing.

He should have gone to Cal or Stanford out of high school.

I saw him and DeVonte Neal play a ton of games. I think he's the only QB in state history with 3 state championships. They were a 4A school and beat the 5A champion by 40 on the road. That team could play with any OC team or Bishop Gorman from this year.

We need to start a list of graduate QBs and their possible destinations.

Braxton Miller would have to be no.1 on the list but who else besides Brewer is a for sure transfer?

We should start a thread titled "College Football Free Agency".
