Steve had some good quotes on a recent 247 update posted about a half hour ago. Seems that our thin nature at ILB is intriguing Morgan. Also likes that we can compete at the highest level and for championships... which is maybe an edge over Ole Miss/Vanderbilt. He indicated he'll be coming for USC. Ole Miss/Vandy still seem to lead but if we get a visit and impress him we might have a punchers chance.

IMO, no doubt that Core 6 has played a very negative role for us in this recruitment. We were in really good shape at the start of the recruitment and then were all but eliminated.

That's weird because his father seems very pro ND. Peer pressure >>> Parental advice I guess.

I'd like to think this means there is some legit interest if coming on his own dime.

Or he's not incredibly interested and wants to keep room for other officials.

As of now I'm gonna side with him wanting to save his officials for places farther away. With that said as long as we can get him back to campus we at least have a punchers chance.

Or he can use his official later in the process, either at the banquet or before NSD. We used that tactic to great effect in recent years, pulling in late commits with January visit.

I'm sure it's this, right? I mean I remember what it was like to be a high school senior ... I definitely wanted to maximize my opportunities to party with college kids away at school. If paying the $30 in gas that it costs to drive the 200 miles round-trip to ND means you can take another all-expenses-paid trip to party at some SEC school in the dead of the Illinois winter, why wouldn't you do that? I'd be kind of mad at him if he wasted an official visit on ND. lol.

Holy cow! He looked very impressive in those highlights. Looked extremely fast for an ILB and his instincts and recognition seemed amazing too. Not to mention he can lay the lumber. Just brought a whole new level of interest to this recruitment for me. Hope we can somehow get this guy in blue and gold.

I hear ya, he would be awesome to add to this class, but I'd suggest scrolling back through the pages of this thread first before you get your hopes up too high.

Given recent events, ND's high propensity for elite transfers, his affiliation with Core 6, and his dad being more pro-ND than Nyles (from most reports), I worry that he would be a flight risk once he gets here. Obviously it could be a Manti Te'o scenario where he starts by midseason and all is well. But if he doesn't fit in culturally, I worry.

This is all very far in the future and obviously the dominoes have to fall in our favor to even get to this point.

He's violent.

Thats the exact word that came to my mind and I love it. Granted some of these kids are small compared to who he'll be hitting in college but damn he sure lights a few of them up.

Lynch basically started half way thru the year his freshman year and that didn't make and difference for him...i worry about that first spring semester when you just have workouts and school and that's it. that seems to be where we are the most doomed as of late.

Unofficial vs official doesn't matter. At the end of the day, we're going to have to completely change his mind on this visit to get in the race. I'm doubtful that will happen. But at least we're getting one last shot here.

Typically, when a kid is looking at all SEC schools and has Ole Miss as his leader that means ND is going to be a tough sell on a lot of different angles. We'll see what happens though. Maybe Kelly & Co. can work some magic.

if we can land this guy i honestly don't care how we close the rest of the class. Dude's a difference maker the moment he steps on campus where ever that is imo

According to II he and Chuck Martin have been talking a lot lately. Morgan also has taken notice of the depth chart at ILB and is aware of early playing time. Dad is certainly on our side.

The only thing that gives me hope that we could get this guy is the thin depth chart at ILB. He's got to see that he'll have every opportunity to start next year. Not saying he will, just that with Fox and Calabrese graduating, the door is open.

Proximity to home doesn't seem to matter much to him by itself, but I'm hoping that it might matter when combined with the thinness of the depth chart at ND.

and Grace's future very un-clear.

yea that leaves Deeb, Schmidt, Moore, Randolph, Councell?, Martini, and maybe another 2014 recruit battling for 2 spots.

Ain't that the truth. It's pretty rare to get an opportunity to start immedietely on a high profile team at MLB. Especially considering that we can surround him with pretty damn good talent with the OLB's.
