If everete comes back (which i think is stupid) he will sit. The Zaire kid is not going to give up that position. In fact he will lead the irish to some big time wins. EG should go to another school. It makes no sense to come back and academicly he will not be able to get it. My advice to him let your ego go transfer out to maybe a ACC school or a MAC school where you can play right away.

Or come back to ND and play right away. Zaire seems like he will be a very good QB one day, but if it doesn't have to be next year then that is a good thing. Your post has a lot of unfair assumptions about the relative abilities of the two players and of Everett in general.

You're expecting Zaire to be ahead of Golson by the end of this season after spending one year as the 3rd string QB? Ahead of Golson who just led us to a 12-1 record?

The backup, and in this case the backup's backup, quarterback is always the best player on the team according to the fans.

jojoblack's take on Golson is certainly controversial, but there's a good chance that he's actually Malik's father, so please be respectful in your responses.

I don't know if I am alone in this idea but I would rather take a second QB this year - prefer White - than bringing back Hendrix. One year of backup or possibly five of a potential starter. Even if Golson comes back I would not be surprised to see him passed on the chart by Zaire.

i cant see EG getting welcomed back to the team with open arms by upperclassman/veterans. He will have a steep hill to climb to earn their trust back I reckon. By all accounts Zaire has great leadership skills and is well respected. I could see how coaches might decide to go with him over EG initially.

And others agree with him so you shouldn't be too shocked to read it today. Similar things were said on page 1

Zaire could finally settle the position for 4 years. We have everything but the QB in south bend. I am a HUGE Golson fan, but he had major academic struggles his fr yr and then left school for cheating several time right?

I am rooting for Zaire to move in by mid year if Rees craps out.

if he is Malik's parent I would expect him to be more supportive of a young man attempting to get his degree from the same university *** his own child, competition for paying time be damned.

jojo's writing style is similar to that of a guy on Yappi sports(Ohio's HS football forum). It was determined on that forum that the guy was Malik's uncle.

His name on that site is zmonsterknight. He is very confident in MZ's abilities.

Everything happens for a reason...why would Malik come to ND when we have a redshirt fr starting a 5star qb behind him and two upperclassman also in the mix?

The stars are aligning for Zaire with golson and Kiel gone! I hope he starts day one and we bring Rees in if necessary like 2012.

Whiskey, while I understand he's entitled to his opinion, I'm entitled to mine, and......if he is in fact, associated with Malik, I would hope he'd be more understanding of the student athletes who play at ND.......after all, EG has an excellent shot at coming back and will be a teammate of MZ, and I for one am excited about both young men and their futures!!

Not suggesting that anyone censor themselves. Like I said, it's a controversial opinion, so it's unsurprising that many here have disagreed with him.

But since he's likely related to Malik, we ought to disagree a little more respectfully than we might otherwise be inclined to. That's all.

It doesnt matter who I am I am just saying that Why would this young man come back to ND he shamed himself and let the team down. Do you really think the team would except him back? Do you honestly think the coaches will except him back? Listen folks this as you know is the big time and when you let the team down because of selfeshness then you have lost.
I believe the Zaire kid will make a hard run for the gold and work hard as heck to be part of history at Notre Dame.
Nothing against EG really! I just believe he could shine somewhere else where he could have a fresh start..No harm no foul..

Aaron Lynch let the team down by being a bad teammate and a douche.

Golson made poor decisions, but by all accounts is a very likable teammate.

BIG difference.

Yes, I do because as of right now everybody that I follow or respect that covers ND football and that includes BK in multiple interviews expects him to come back. I also fully expect that he's going to have to compete to be the starting QB like he would in any other year. You may have connections to the program or a "dog in the fight" that I'm not aware of but at this point ND nation has been told 100% that if he wants to come back he will and without being rude I'm not sure how you could dispute that.

Let me also add that my views are in no way a knock on Malik. I think in time he will be a fantastic QB and face for ND football. If Golson doesn't come back, it will be Malik's team. I just disagree that the coaches and team don't want him back or that he'll beat out Golson for the starting job if Golson does come back.

No, you're right, it doesn't matter who you are. Golson QB'd a team that played for a national championship. His teammates support him and his coaches support him just as they would any other good teammate. ND fans support him. He'll be welcomed back with open arms and I have a hard time believing he wouldn't start. If he does get beat out so be it. We get that you have connections to Malik, probably very close in fact. I would hope you would support his teammate and not root against him for your personal interests.

I support the school first the legacy the history and the brand...Again I am saying why would the young man come back and face the kind of under the micro-scope stuff he would have to deal with. Thats not the kind of life anybody let alone a kid would have to deal with. Let the kid get a fresh start somewhere else and re-make his life there. Thats all I am saying. AS for the Zaire kid I wish him well and believe that he will shock everyone on how he will handle himself this year at the helm.
