I've read multiple reports where people said he was looking thick. Year 2 won't be as sweet as year 1

Comment on story:

"Wow, this is not good for the leader of your team. What a horrible example for kids to see. I think Johnny football will have a pressure pack year with expectations that will tear him town. Hopefully once he gets back into the football season his focus will be on football only. He’s a great football player. His actions no matter how well he plays next season will cost him winning the Heisman again."

Spoken like a true SEC fan.......

Just confirming the rumor that he was sent home. This is a local reporter down there

I just assumed his demise would occur once he got to the NFL. Looking more and more like we won't have to wait that long...

Yeah. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets his head taken off by some SEC linebacker either. They'll be gunning for him. Winning a Heisman as a freshman may be about the worst thing that could have happened to this kid.

Kid is a great football player and an even greater douche bag.

I really wish people (i.e. the media) would stop calling him a freshman. It's factually incorrect and misleading.

How misleading is it really though? The Heisman is an award given for on field play. He won it in his first (freshman) season playing on the CFB level.

Never seen someone set themselves up for being an NFL bust this clearly.

Would he even qualify as a bust anymore? Haha, I don't think anyone even expects him to be productive in the NFL at this rate

I find it very misleading. I am pretty sure the Texas A&M registrar's office classified him as a sophomore during the Fall 2012 semester. His first season playing college football (Fall 2011) was spent as a backup quarterback. He won the Heisman during his second (sophomore) season.

I'm not trying to diminish his accomplishment. He won the Heisman with less game experience than anyone in the history of the Heisman. That's impressive. It's just annoying that he was given the freshman title when he wasn't, in fact, a freshman.

His fourth semester with the team. I agree that it's misleading.

Freshman. Redshirt freshman. Sophomore. It's kind of semantics. My point simply was that he won the Heisman with a whole lot of college football ahead of him and a lot of defensive players who'd love to show him a thing or two. Nowhere to go but down, even if he was handling it well. Which he's not.

One of those isn't like the other and that's the one the media has chosen to use to define Manziel.

I agree with your original point. I think everyone is looking forward to his follow up act this season. That Alabama game week 3 will be must watch TV.

I hope he does so poorly that he gets benched midway through the season.

Or he could be like Brett Farve. Not showing up to NFL training camp and just come in and be awesome. Some people are just that good.

Much different cases. Favre was a professional. At the point NFL QBs reach some can practically be the OC for a team; Favre was one of them.

Anyone know if Manziel will still be at SEC Media Days? He was scheduled appear before

Last I read there was no change to A&M's participants. I would not bring him if I were A&M. SEC Media Days is a big enough circus as it is.

Redshirt sophomore QB Johnny Manziel apologized to Texas A&M coaches after he was reportedly "very upset" when leaving the Manning Passing Academy, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.
Apologizing for being ill or dehydrated? A source also told Schad that Manziel was asked to "come clean" as to why he did not finish his commitment to the Manning's camp. Not only is this making national headlines, the NFL scouting community is likely very interested in acquiring as much information as possible this fall.-Rotoworld
