Why don't you guys like this hire?
I have no particular opinion on it, I think Stevens' is a great college basketball coach. I never really thought about him leaving Butler/to the NBA of all places. I'm excited to see how it shakes out, but I hope for Stevens' case his career doesn't go the same route as Pitino (great college coach who leaped to the NBA and struggled).
Where is this giff from??
Decent hire for the Celtics but devastating for Butler. I am really surprised.
If it does maybe ND can hire him on the rebound![]()
This is totally odd. I really thought Stevens would stay at Butler his whole career. Not sure how I feel about it if I'm a Celtics fan, but definitely sucks for Butler.

It would be stupid for Brad Stevens not to leave Butler for the NBA
He was making less than a million a year and now he could be making millions a year.
Butler wasn't exactly a power house in basketball anyway.
My friend works under Pat Haden. When they were looking for a coach, he asked her to go to the Bookstore to get USC gear for young children...they didn't know what coach they were doing it for. So the workers eavesdropped when the coach called and heard Pat say "OK Brad, see you then." Haden then boarded a flight and met with Stevens and his family. This was right after Brad had said he wasn't leaving Butler. I knew then that he was gone sooner rather than later, despite his love for Butler and the small-town feel of the university and the people there.
But never in a million years did I think it would be for the Celtics! And a rebuilding job at that. I'm shocked by this...

He should have time to learn. Everybody knows this is a rebuilding project. He also has a nba mind based on the sabermetrics movement in pro basketball. That is why he was able to get low to mediocre basketball players to perform so exceptionally.
So he is like the basketball version of Jonah Hill?
