Interesting that the activity increases with the new commit and the interest from the #1 in the nation, (at the position.)

Williams tweets about ND almost every week. I find the IE reports of him cooling on us humorous. The kid is doing his homework and enjoying the process. Nothing to worry about.

If you were a 4-star recruit with basically the choice of any school in the country, what would you do? Some guys choose to commit early (we love these guys) while others are patient and let the process play out (we talk in circles about these guys). As much as I love ND, I can't say for certain I'd commit before taking my official visits. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience and some kids (Williams) enjoy it more than most.

I think you're wrong on this one. I have no sources not already available to all on this site, but my gut tells me he's cooled on ND and will likely stay south.

We'll be in this race for a long time, in my opinion. Since he is a 17 year old, anything is possible and I can see him getting very excitied about some other options, but I have a hard time seeing him cooling on ND to the degree that we don't have a legitimate shot. Why?

- He is from a slightly smaller school and one of his best friends is a freshman football player at ND. He went through the recruiting process with him in a lot of ways. He is not going to toss that aside lightly. He doesn't have to choose ND, but I doubt he is going to drop us without giving us a shot.

- He has also articulated that he understands why ND is a unique choice.

- He also seems to genuinely like ND and the coaches.

Will announce top 5 tomorrow at The Opening.

This should be good. I've long thought he wouldn't be Irish, but I still want him to be Irish nonetheless. Just don't see it happening even though I'm sure we'll make his top 5.

I'd substitute LSU for UGA. I'm still not sure we are even in it.

I agree with you but I think we'll make the top 5 just for ceremonial purposes. He likes having the ND fans base to talk with and whatnot.

The reason for UGA was only due to is being his state school. It wouldn't make a top 3.

Says who?

He didn't mention ND as one of the schools recruiting him hard to Rivals. Now that I reread the article he didn't mention Clemson or Auburn either so I think he context was poor here and maybe it was schools recruiting him hard of late that weren't before.

That sounds much more likely to be true. Coaches have been showing TONS of love for a while. Even if they decided to give him some space for a few weeks he knows how high he stands for us.

I think our staff does a phenomenal job of not suffocating recruits and I would guess they do less "begging" than most schools.

Unfortunately for a lot of kids, "recruiting hard" = nonstop texting, 100 hand written letters every week, begging, etc. I'm happy our staff doesn't do this (that I'm aware of).

95% sure ND is in his top 5. Clemson is probably in it. Same with Georgia

Don't sleep on Auburn...he loved his visit there...and well team money at clemson

He and his parents have worked to get this far, and Williams has had a specific set of criteria to narrow this list down.

"Education. Do they have an education that fits me, a good scheme, the coaches?" he said. "I want to play defensive end or an outside linebacker that rushes the quarterback all the time, too. I wouldn't want to just be a linebacker. And then the family feel."

The 6-foot-4, 243-pound prospect has a plan of action as far as how the rest of his process will go after he release his top five schools.

"I will visit those schools and then after that I should have my decision," he said. "I would hope it will be before the season. I'll probably take visits over the summer then narrow it to a top two and take two official visits."

NO MENTION of ND in article
While he hasn't fully come to a conclusion on the list, Williams does have an idea of who is in the mix. Schools such as Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Clemson, Georgia and Michigan are all programs Williams said might have a shot to make his cut.

I'll be surprised if Georgia is a serious player.

He has a visit to Dawg Nights scheduled and UGA has really stepped up their interest per Rivals. I'm gonna backpedal on my original post and say Auburn, UGA, & Clemson are definitely in it. IMO That leaves probably LSU, ND, & Ole Miss for the last two spots. Again wouldn't be shocked if ND is not in it.
