He's committing on NSD

ND fans tweet at him profusely. It's the only way we have a chance.

Some on this site have not been around long enough to appreciate this comment. I just take it as pouring salt in an (still after all these years) open wound. I should probably let this one go!
Lol that stories cracks me up.

That was the first year I followed recruiting.

While Carter has not locked himself into a specific top five yet, the elite pass-rusher has singled out five programs -- Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Notre Dame -- that are standing out right now.

All five programs have had Carter on campus in the last four months. Alabama hosted him in March and defensive coordinator Kirby Smart broke down how Carter would be utilized in Alabama’s defense, which made his parents realize they would need to be informed on the nuances of different schemes.

“That was an eye-opening experience and the first time we really sat down as a family and talked about how I should narrow down my schools and if I could fit in a 3-4 versus a 4-3 scheme,” Carter said. “I feel like I can do either and if anyone tells me I am too small to play in a 4-3 or anything else, they are really just insulting me as a player because I feel like I can do whatever I put my mind to.”

Last weekend, Carter made a trip north with teammate and linebacker prospect Kevin Mouhon to check out Ohio State and Notre Dame. With Urban Meyer out of town, the OSU trip was short, but Notre Dame positioned itself to get a return visit from Carter, who admits that without the success the Irish had on the field last fall, he likely would never have taken a closer look at their program.

Talks about the ND and OSU visits. ND went well, looks like Diaco likes him at CAT and not DE? Isn't that where Jaylon is going to be? State's No. 1 prospect talks UGA, Notre Dame and ... Florida | College Recruiting | www.ajc.com

Here was the Q/A from the article:

You visited Notre Dame a few days ago. What was your impression?
“I was really pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting to see a lot of stuff up there because I was thinking it would be an old campus – a lot of churchy buildings. But there’s really a lot of stuff going on up there. I feel like it gets a bad reputation for being too structured. I think they do a good job of keeping the players in church or mass, while still realizing they’re just college kids, so they let them have fun. (Defensive coordinator Bob Diaco) sat me down, showed me some of their defenses, and how he would use me as a Cat Linebacker. I liked it.”
What’s next with Notre Dame?
“I’ve still got to get my parents up there. I have to go back because I still have some unanswered questions about their engineering program. I’ve got to talk to more people about engineering, and get my parents up there to see a game.”
You got to meet Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly. What did you think?
“From everything I’m hearing, he’s just like a ‘player’s coach.’ I feel like he would do whatever to keep the players happy. He has done a great job because the players want to work hard for him. And I can see why after sitting down to talk to some of the Notre Dame players.”
What was your impression of Ohio State?
“I didn’t really get to see anything. None of the coaches were there. Coach Meyer left before I got there. Nobody was there. It was just (offensive coordinator Tom Herman), the coach who recruits me – he was there with his son. We just walked around their football building and saw the indoor field and the practice fields. Then we got dinner. When I woke up, (defensive line coach Mike Vrabel) came. We ate breakfast, went by the stadium and Buckeye Grove. And that’s it. We left. Ohio State was just a drive-through. We didn’t really do anything.”
Was that a bummer not to see more at Ohio State?
“It was kind of disappointing but it was whatever. “

We have the impression that we're churchy and too structured. Tear down the Basilica and discontinue all masses

These insights into how southern recruits perceive ND prior to visiting are fascinating. It goes to show just how much work is probably involved in simply getting these kids to visit at all.

Loy just projected Lorenzo Carter to Notre Dame...

I thought he was joking with his tweet and was referring to Bonner to ND. That is a big prediction....echo what Panda said but it would be incredible if it came to fruition.

I really like the part about getting his parents up here. We may actually have a legit chance here.

Dear God the thought of Jaylon at DOG and Carter at CAT.

It's hard because its true. ND is churchy and structured compared to Auburn and Ole Miss.

If you are more religious, UGA and Clemson , where the coaching starff will have a bible study with you every once in while.

We are always going to have a hard time with kids who think of college as the minor leagues.

Right. Even for the religious southern kids, few of whom are Catholic, Notre Dame's Catholicism is probably more "structured" than what they're used to.
You do hear a lot lately that Notre Dame is "different," especially from recruits from the South. The guys we want are the ones who are willing to embrace "different." Starting to sound like Carter just might be one of those.
Sounds like OSU whiffed, though. WTF?

OSU doesn't offer anything different than Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc to these Southern kids unlike Notre Dame.

"Different" is good. That's the only way to compete against large state schools for southern recruits.

I'd much rather go head-to-head against 'Bama for an elite southern recruit than against Stanford and USC for an elite Cali recruit.

This. A tremendous amount of effort goes into planning a visit. So when this kid, all of a sudden, decides out of the blue, to to tag the Ohio State visit on after he visits ND, and the coaches are expected to cater to him? No way. UFM might have done that in the past while he was at Florida, but he is a changed man now, to extend his longevity as a HC. Moving on.
Sure it does. Cooler temperatures and w some luck, gold pants.
The way things are going now, we may not need luck... ;)

You're right. With the way Warriner is pulling in those elite O Linemen... Wait, what's that? Never mind.
