Maybe it's because he's next to Troy but Heuerman looks noticeably smaller than the others. Nice to see the current TEs welcoming the new guys.

Nope. Mike is just smaller. Has a way to go in the weight room if he is to play anywhere but the flex spot.

Durham has some good height though.

No disrespect to Alex, but why would bumping the thread of a guy who has barely been able to play in three seasons scare the shits out of you?

Because Alex Welch is a guy that is that good, (home town intel says better than Rudolph per age) that has had the worst luck ever!

If he has a good year everybody will be shocked; and it is more important and one of the big things that could make Tommy go! (Or a more inexperienced quarterback.)

I was searching video for the 13 season primer with TP.

But, Alex grabbed my attention just from the sheer size of him and had me excited for w TE sets.. that's all.

So is there a primer? Where is it located. I couldn't find it but consider the source.

81 Brooks, Joey Tight End 6-5/222 GS Houston, TX/Strake Jesuit College Prep
9 Heuerman, Mike Tight End 6-3.5/218 FR Naples, FL/Barron Collier
18 Koyack, Ben Tight End 6-5/253 JR Oil City, PA/Oil City
85 Niklas, Troy Tight End 6-7/260 JR Fullerton, CA/Servite
82 Welch, Alex Tight End 6-4/250 SR Cincinnati, OH/Elder

Call Welch out of shape this fall when he tattoos LB's and DE's coming off the line, and destroys safeties. And, having a big head ain't all bad!

Don't worry you're not crazy, Im not finished with it yet.

Yea I don't think a big t-shirt makes Alex look out of shape ha.. BK is going to pound the rock and Alex will be a big part of that.

See, that is what I was trying to get at, without assuming. I couldn't get if you were looking at someone else's work or putting together something of your own! Now I understand! I am a little bit older and slower . . . But I still 'gots' heart! Oh, yeah, and I 'gots' a big ol' head too!

So with your research, I would be interested in hearing who you expect to have a big year.

no love for Durham Smythe?

Welch is a big unit, I do hope he gets a chance to show what he can do at ND, would hate for his career to fall the same way as Ragone's did

A tank, very popular these days among the teen/young adult folk

LOL, I know, it just looks like it was one he made himself with puffy paint and then of course the mismatched swim trunks to go with it.

Not that. Smythe was not listed on the Spring 2013 Roster. I like official online roster because it us usually accurate, if but a little behind and because you can click on headings to get the list alpha, numeric, or by position.

Believe it or not, for a while Michigan had more golf courses than any state in the nation! I know this because I used to sell and install computer systems in Country Clubs, Riding Clubs, Tennis, and Yacht Clubs. A few shooting clubs too. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.

The simple-minded impressions that I get from that picture are:

1). the guys seem to really like one another; a 5* plus; and
2). Ben Koyack looks the part of a stud TE.

Both of these impressions find warm approval by me.

And the freshmen are outboard.

Koyack and Niklas; there is beaucoup studliness in that picture, IMO.

Add me to the list of people impressed by Koyack in that pic. Definitely starting to look the part. Dare I say, his potential will be reached this year.

He won't have to sit out since he's technically a senior, right?

Lou at BGI spoke with Welch's mom. She says that while Alex is looking at transfer destinations, as has been reported, nothing is confirmed and CBK has encouraged him to stay.

CBK should just let him go.

He'd be 3rd TE on the depth chart once again barring injury.

I'd rather have the younger guys get more reps.

Imagine if we keep Welch. That's three senior TEs with no eligibility remaining after 2014-15 season. We'd be going into the following season with very little experience at the position.

BK should look to the future.

yeah but if Troy went down with an injury do you think Koyack could handle the in-line blocking?

This is the issue. If everybody stays healthy we don't need Welch ... but if Niklas goes down then he might be a critical player, depending on whether any of the other guys can fill his role. Welch would at least be a physically mature 5th year senior who would likely have a physicality edge over our other TEs.

We know that Kelly thinks highly of Welch, just hasn't found an opportunity to get him on the field.

If that's the case, take a page out of Stanford's play book; throw an extra OL on the field. Use him as an in-line blocker.
