Wow. I see he was in Rome, I wonder if he had been on a long flight. I had a partner who had just gotten back from a vacation in Croatia with his daughters, and passed away suddenly from what they believe to have been a blood clot that moved to his heart. I could be wrong in this case obviously, but if you are taking long flights make sure you get up and walk around I am hearing about this a bit more in recent years.

Definitely played one of the greatest characters ever on TV. Was brilliant in the role. I recently rewatched the entire series and appreciated even more the second time.

Don't know if that's what happened here but I also was on a flight with another engineer I worked with and the same thing happened to him. He lived but was immediately taken from the plane to ICU and was there for two weeks. And he was only in his thirties when it happened.
Gandolfini was a great actor and 51 is simply way too young.

The things I really liked about him were in order; he always seemed to be one of the guys, and everyday, every man; and, some of his best performances seemed to be in the small roles or the less acclaimed movies. He was great in Terminal Velocity, absolutely outstanding. He was really good and his performance was necessary for Crimson Tide, and Fallen, too!
my nephew used to work on the silvercup studio set (lighting guy) and when they were filming some of the sopranos over there he always use to say how people he knew on their lot/sets (he wasnt) said Gandolfini and the guy who played Big Pussy used to buy/have lunch with all the grips, techs etc once in a while...they would always call in food for everyone from the best restaurants in queens.

I have numerous friends/fam/friends of friends who have done a lot of extra work, or backstage stuff in Hollywood and such. I have always heard nothing but good things about him... Bruce Willis, Travolta, him and Queen Latifa are a few that always come to mind with the "down to earth, good guy" rep...
