Me as well. LSU knows how to show players a good time and Mr. Miles will say anything to get a recruit, sound familiar Urban.

LSU has an especially potent recruiting pitch for QBs right now. Mettenberger's a senior (although they have two incoming freshmen this season), they just brought in Cam Cameron to "fix" their putrid passing game, they're going to have a dynamite WR class one way or another. Add to that the standard SEC pitch and Miles' vastly underrated reputation as a masterful recruiter (going all the way back to the CU-Boulder national championship).

Still, it really sounds for all the world that Kizer wants to stay in the Midwest. I'm more worried about OSU than LSU.

I think Kizer left shortly after Thomas and Lazard arrived

I really hope Kizer pulls the trigger because I'm still cautious him getting blown away by LSU or equally worse OSU offering

I just hope he doesn't commit unless he has come to the decision that a OSU offer, whenever it comes, won't have any effect on his recruitment going forward.

I agree. I've always wondered just how specific the coaching staff gets with these matters. Do you think the staff makes direct statements like the one above or do they politic the process in order to get the verbal? Just wondering. I'm sure it likely varies.

I operate under the assumption that our staff for the most part is very upfront and honest with recruits about where they stand and what a commitment means. A good example I always go back to is what thy said to Hayes. It was basically this "If you are willing to commit to them, then they'll make the commitment to you.". Meaning that if you commit to ND we won't recruit other kids and you don't look anywhere else.

What you did there. I can see it. On another note, is he related to Mr. Soze?

Just the Usual (Suspects).

I don't think that will work w DeShone. He doesn't strike me as a kid that will accept the bag of cash or get involved with the prostitution ring.

Agreed. I just meant generally. LSU is playing the recruiting game on easy mode this season.

Trouble is, both parties can say whatever they want at this point. It's different when Urban Meyer is putting on the full-court press.
But, yeah, it'd be great to land this kid but in the back of my mind I'd still worry about a late OSU offer, at least until they get another QB committed.

Again, if he commits, I hope he is really shutting it down, because it would really suck if we grab him and effectively shut the door on possibly getting Park or Cornwell and then he has second thoughts about either LSU or OSU.

Says LSU visit could potentially be off which is a big change from what Wiltfong reported earlier today. Info coming from LSU writer/source and would obviously be huge for ND.

I'd rather he take his visit to LSU and then pick us, but either way, I think when he commits to us, he's solid.

I hear ya on this but some food for thought. IIRC, the Kizer family has already bought their tickets to LSU so if they were to cancel the trip and commit, you would think thats a pretty solid move.

No I agree, that would be a solid move. My only trepidation is that by doing that, Kizer may have not 'gotten the full recruiting experience' and visited a school he was clearly intrigued by. He is obviously excited about ND right now, but if in the fall he starts having second thoughts or wondering what LSU might be like, it could create an uncomfortable situation. Ditto for the eventual OSU offer.

Like after Rees has a couple belly flops on national TV.

Cornwell would be one guy I continue recruit through the year regardless. There may be a few other QBs (I haven't looked at them all closely) who I would still continue talks with as either back-up plans or (if they are good enough) 2nd QBs.

Sonny Shipp of LSU 247 flipped his prediction from LSU to Notre Dame. Barton Simmons is the only remaining holdout. 96% ND 4% LSU.
