See... here's what's interesting. Yes, coaches know how you're doing academically. They know if you cut class. They know if you don't turn in homework. That's all fine and dandy.

But you think Kelly should've known that, allegedly, he cheated on his accounting final? Short of Kelly standing over his shoulder while he is taking it, that would be literally impossible until after the fact.

At this point I'm going to let EG live by his word and trust that he will make it all up to us. I expect him to be an outstanding student-athlete and citizen in the future. He always seemed like a good kid to me and it sounds like he made a bad mistake. He has owned up to it and now we have to fight on and hope this doesn't affect the team in any way other than his absence on the field.

why the hell would there be vacated wins from last season for some kind of academic issue in the spring? you played FCS football, you should know that doesn't make sense.

Dude, change your diaper. Not your kids' diapers, yours. Under BK, Notre Dame has continued to lead the NATION in grad rates, and you don't think the staff is up on grades? Serious?

And under BK, we've had what, ONE academic issue before Everett Golson? And you don't think this staff is up on grades? For real?

And all this isn't at a school like Alabama or FL where the majority of the players major in football majors like Parks and Recreation (otherwise known as Preparation for the NFL - #nodegree/nojobafterfootball). This is at ND where they are expected to compete with the rest of the student body.

And I love it how you don't put anything on the players...it's all the coaches. What a joke. Everett cheats? Eff you BK! Ferguson is a pothead who doesn't give 2 shits about school? All on you BK! Neal does whatever he did (won't go there) - Fire BK!

Shoot, EV never even stepped foot on campus and you still STILL blamed BK for not making him feel comfortable at ND LOL, that's how much of a joke you've become.

What is Everett majoring in that he was / had to take accounting? I remember how difficult my undergrad accounting classes were and couldn't imagine having to study for those while also dealing with the commitment of being the starting quarterback at a big-time collegiate program. You would need serious tutoring help to be able to keep up with your peers in classes like that given the time commitments of scholarship players.

If you're in Mendoza, you generally take Accounting I and II your 3rd and 4th semester.

the NCAA looks at it a bit different. They guarantee a student athlete that they have 5 years, 4 of which of possible in-game playing time and 1 year of a redshirt (which can be used at anytime). They don't really give medical redshirts. If a player gets injured they use their guaranteed redshirt. If they get injured again they lose one of their other 4 years and would then petition to get a 6th year to make up for that lost time.

Is Golson allowed to re-enroll in the fall of 2013 before getting his football eligibility back in spring 2014? I would think it would be helpful to let him focus on passing the classes he's been having trouble with while he's away from football and has the time to get the academics in order. What is accounting II at Notre Dame? Is it cost accounting or some more advanced level of the intro financial accounting course? At Wharton our second required accounting course was cost accounting, so I'm just wondering if the curriculum is similar.

Haven't read everything - apparently Pat went off the deep end.

The issues jumping up and biting the Irish since Kelly took over have happened at an alarming rate-this off-season is just ridiculous and for someone to say that there is not a problem has blinders on or is knee deep in the kool-aid. The amount of issues falls on both the players AND the Head Coach. Hope the drama ends here and that Kelly fixes this.

So what does evryone think of the QB strategery for 2013? Is it Tommy Time again or is Zaire going to step up and take the reins? Part of me sees Zaire as being ahead of where EG was as a freshman and might be able to make that leap, but he has a ton of work to do before Aug 31 of course.

On a related note I wonder how all this makes The Machine Gunner feel. Timing is everything!

I honestly never really thought Kiel fit in with BKs offense for the long haul. He is an amazing talent but not in the mold of EG or MZ. I expect to see lots of TR and a little Hendrix mixed in. But what do I know. Maybe MZ can contribute immediately. We shall see, that's for sure
