Foreign language requirement in it's simplest form is a joke. Took 4 years of French and it was a huge waste. I would have been better served taking other classes. ANY other classes. Now if you want to talk about a language that should be required, that would be Spanish for obvious reasons. For everyone.... I was a pretty much a straight A guy in HS and loved academics, but boy I wish I had that time back (French).

Actually Chinese would be a good language as well.

Taking Spanish 1 (or another language) as a Senior would be awesome, easy A.

Add A&M to the list, I would expect the last one to be Arkansas

Amazing we aren't in the top group for any NGs even though we can guarantee he will start as a freshman, not looking good folks

I hear ya, I wonder how big that language class is? Seemed like early on we were in his top group and expecting an official and now seems like we don't have a chance.

@JoshuaFrazier99: Just got off the phone with coach Elliot From Notre Dame!! I thank them for getting me to reconsider and I'm gonna try to get this...

@JoshuaFrazier99: Foreign language because I really could see myself at Notre Dame... Really great program

@JoshuaFrazier99: I'm not certain with ND but I will give foreign language a shot my top 5 stands as it is for right now till further notice.

kudos to the staff for getting on him to let to ensure we don't run into any issues down the stretch.

p.s. why is foreign language considered such a burden to some of these guys??

I'm amazed at how many high schools don't require foreign language. My high school required three courses to graduate and it was just a normal public school.

yep mine required two and 3 for an honors....that is crazy.

not to mention it's pretty pathetic that colleges don't require it for entry either.

its because state colleges dont require.

indiana has a program called "core 40" that if you get c average in the core 40 credits you'll get accepted into public state school.

He will have to make a decision soon to take the class, don't think at the moment he is willing to do it. A summer visit would go a long way though.

In theory he could wait until the start of next school year. I'm sure his schedule could get adjusted if he decides to take a Spanish course that is typically full of freshmen or something like that.

This foreign language requirement is becoming a pain in the ***. ND should consider offering it online or something before a player comes to their freshman year.

My school was the same and it was a very small public school. Had to have the foreign language requirements to graduate Honors though (I'm not sure Core 40 has the same foreign language requirements). It amazes me that in this day in our society that all schools don't require at least the basics. I don't recall everything I learned from those two or three years, but I do still know the basics. It's been enough to get buy when needed.

I'm not crazy about the education programs around this country in general, but that's another can of worms. This foreign language/transcript thing is a bit ridiculous though. Not that I think ND should lower standards, but surely there's a way to fast-track admissions for football players (especially those who may be deemed borderline entry). The trouble I see is that a kid may take a class in the spring (or even the summer), but he can sign his LOI that Feb. February is almost too early for NSD considering some of these kids are still taking required classes to get into said school. The school is basically taking a chance on this particular kid who needs to pass a class during his last semester of his senior year AFTER he's already signed his LOI. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

With that said, I really hope Josh follows through with his plans. He'd be a HUGE, literally, addition to this team. I'm praying the staff signs at bare minimum 4 true DL this cycle.

Horrible example haha

I was hoping the "we weren't in Vanderdoes' top group" would die w/ the recent news. We also weren't in Davonte Neal's top 15 IIRC, that didn't turn out great either.

Maybe Rochell is a better example. IIRC he said ND wasn't really under consideration from him, then Booker convinced him to visit and he fell in love with the place.

Maybe we could get foreign language credits for Josh Frazier if he agreed to read IE and decipher all Bogs' posts. He'd certainly earn the credits trying to do that.
