Sorry if this is a joke but who is Star?
Star69 if you have twitter, dude is either tweeting at a recruit or posting on 24 7 board. I am honestly not sure if that dude has a life.
would you say he's being #reckless?

Poster on II started a thread about Josh. He said that he read an article on another site that stated Josh is interested in ND and we are very interested in him. But the in order to get into ND he has to take one year of foreign language which he hasn't done. At this time he is unsure whether or not he is going to take that class as ND is the only school recruiting him that requires that. Unsure of the validity of this statement as the poster on II didn't say where he read it from but this wouldn't be the first time we've heard this so it doesn't came as a surprise to me. The point of bringing it here is, it seems one year of foreign language is meaningless in the grand scheme of things and this could be a way to level the playing field. Thoughts?
Do they not require that to graduate from high school?

Nearly every College at ND requires proficiency in a foreign language (3 semesters). Not having a background in one foreign language is a recipe for disaster in the classroom. If we drop that requirement, I guarantee you we'll see players leave the team for academic reasons more often.
Given, foreign language may not be the reason why a player struggles academically but the ability to speak/read/understand another language is often indicative of overall language skills. It suggests a certain grasp of the English language if one can pick up another language. The best thing I ever did for my English skills was to take 2 years of Latin in grade school - it forced me to really understand participles, direct objects, indirect objects, verb tenses, etc. because you have to be able to translate the Latin to English and vice versa. You can't decline a noun properly if you don't know how nouns are used in English.
I guess my point is that most of the ND football players may never use a foreign language post graduation, but developing that skill in high school is a good predictor of academic success at ND.
don't know what it is now but in New York in the '96 when I graduated HS, 3 years of foreign language was needed.
