Nobody has said they aren't recruiting. But it's evident from interviews with a lot of top guys recently that ND isn't maintaining consistent contact - at least as much as numerous other top schools.

Smothering hasn't really been the staff's recruiting M.O.

Well what do you think they are doing with their time if they aren't getting in touch with recruits? Playing a crazy amount of handball? It's just hard for me to imagine that this staff, which has demonstrated its competency over and over again, would just stop calling prospects that they want in their program all of a sudden and for no reason.

Maybe they're all looking for their next jobs? Why haven't contract extensions gotten done? I don't know why but I just get the vibe that that they're not all in right now.

In the past, you'd hear story after story about how hard we are recruiting kids. I haven't heard sh*t in a very long time. Not even really a positive tidbit on any prospects except Braden Smith allegedly visiting Wednesday. One factor is that the class is going to be a small one so it's harder to go all out for lesser-tier prospects... but I haven't heard of them busting down the doors for any top flight prospects either.

From everything I have seen, Alford is still creating great relationships with a ton of Florida guys. The only prospect I can think of that always mentions ND recruiting him really hard is Mark Andrews

This staff has been doing a very good job recruiting. I do not want them sending a recruit 500 handwritten notes every day and bombarding him with countless texts. It's phony. The coaches seem to me to be clearly telling recruits what the University of Notre Dame is about and what a Notre Dame degree means and trying to find the young men who will succeed and flourish here. As the recruiting process goes on some of these young men start to realize that a lot of this attention is pure crap and that what the Notre Dame coaches have told them from day one has remained the same and that they can actually trust what they have been told. They will end up at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is not for everyone.

YUCKKKKKKK!!! Was hoping he would have fit us in on this trip. I am sure we are going to get a visit eventually, but seems other schools have the steam with him right now.

I've heard different, but I guess we will see.

idk what you have heard...but we have slowed down on his recruitment...supposedly some character issues...we have always been thrown in at the very end of his lists but haven always been trailing Stanford, OSU, UM...talks VERY little about ND

Are you kidding me? Calm down on the character issue thing. But look at the who's who of his recruiting list. LSU, A&M and Stanford? I believe from listening to this kid he watches the talking heads, counts the schools they mention most and puts them on the list with Michigan (ceremonial place on the list).

If we have "character issues" with him, wouldn't Stanford? And for that matter Michigan? Both tend to set a fairly high bar on that stuff, too.

Stanford more than Michigan. Much more.

Something that hasn't come up:

Michigan has offered and is recruiting and Ohio State is recruiting Paramus OT Juwann Bushell-Beatty while ND is not. So when Jabril goes on these MW visits he is usually with JBB and since ND is not recruiting JBB it is not surprising they don't visit ND.

You've really stepped your game this year. That is true and its known Meyer has a man crush on Jabrill

Peppers will be a signing day decision long long time left to go. He will be on NDs campus.

Coombs is one of the most high energy coaches i have ever seen...really wanted him to come with BK when he took the job, but i think his ties to Cincy kept him around and then urban came calling when one of his initial hires jetted for the NFL.

Coombs is a very good recruiter and i'm pretty sure he had a large impact on landing Eli Apple from NJ last year. very good move on their part linking him with Peppers

Ridiculously strong quotes from his (and the OL's) coach coming out of the visit. Will be interesting to see how Ohio State visit goes tomorrow and Stanford visit later.
