Just saying, the Giants had some real depth problems in their secondary to start last season.

They still had a top-10 corner in Corey Webster though. Who knows how good Bennett Jackson will be

Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips are also borderline Pro Bowl players with Deon Grant being above average. Throw in Prince Amuk and Aaron Ross..not that bad.

Anyone using the pros as a comparasion...just stop.

I see what you're trying to do, but as other posters said, you can grab a free agent....and there isn't as big of a gap between talent in the pro game as there is in the college game. Especially between upperclassmen and freshman.

And our schedule is brutal. Losing anyone that is a projected starter is gonna hurt. And while we may manhandle average to poor teams up front, it's gonna be a different story agains the good teams on our schedule. You're not gonna get 4 sacks against USC or OU (not with those vet QB's...especially OU who gets the ball out so quickly and wears your D out with the quick offense).

I think that's gonna be our weakness this year. Late in the game, uptempo offenses are gonna hurt us. You need a strong secondary to back up those big guys that are getting winded.

Pat I hear what you're saying, but your contradicting yourself. Have you seen the projected O-line for Oklahoma vs. what they have there now? They are more decimated there than we are at DB. USC is getting hammered with injuries right now, so much so that they can't practice they way they'd like to (again).

I agree that a veteran QB could mitigate to a degree the losses at O-line, but not to the extent you are insinuating. It also negates their deeper routes, as they will (or should not) have the time to let them develop. That alone protects an inexperienced secondary greatly. Doesn't have to be sacks as long as the QB is forced to act before he wants to.

Successful surgery, 6 month "full recovery" time table. I personally doubt he will ever get back to 100%... just my experience and I didn't even rupture it. Just partial tears.

I'm surprised IE wasn't blowing up over this yesterday. It made me think the news about Wood's injury was bogus. Thoughts & prayers are with him and I hope for the best for his recovery.

Lo is the type of kid ND wants, not the kids Allen Pinkett was referring to.

Played some pickup bball with Wood and some other players/former players today (Mike Floyd back in town for some reason and good lord can he play some ball) and I was shocked at the things Lo was doing just 6 months off a torn Achilles. Running full speed, making quick cuts, even throwing down a couple 360 dunks. He appears to be well ahead of schedule in terms of his recovery, which is really great to see from a kid who has approached his injury with such a great attitude. Hope he gets some real PT come September.

360 dunks? Isn't he only listed at 5'11"? Must have quite the hops!

I hope this can be one of those transformational experiences. In life I have had the privilge to see a few occasions where the human spirit rose to overcome obsticles, and in doing so propelled the doer to greatness beyond the original plane of his talent.

That being said, I am 5'11" truly, and I could maybe jump and touch the net.
