Can't let Stanford or Michigan steal a academically-minded 5 star NJ kid. That's our kinda kid, on our turf.

If ever we could claim somebody outside of Indiana as our turf....well this guy would fit the bill. COMPLETELY agree that he should be a top priority to have a LONG sit down with the staff before spring practice ends. Lock him up and let the class build around him on the def. side of the ball.

I think Coach Diaco needs to make a special project of Mr. Peppers.

Stanford and Ohio State are 1 and 2 right now.

Are you just reading that on the pay sites/forums or are you hearing that from somewhere legitimate? Because I have a hard time believing that scUm doesn't still lead.

That has been reported on 24/7, as recently as today by Steve Wiltfong.

Gonna have to go hard after him. Keep hearing Stanford too. Diaco will have to do some serious work with this kid.

So pay site forum...

Wiltfong has been saying Stanford/OSU since early January and was the driving force of this. I've seen this play out with Wiltfong before. I'm no insider, but I know that Jabrill is a lifelong scUM fan that has a mother that bought him a crap ton of scUM gear for him two weeks before Wiltfong broke the Stanford/OSU leading news.

Just saying that if you can go back and look at every big time recruit from recent classes and look at all of the "breaking info" from guys like Wiltfong, you will notice the trend of them not knowing their @ss from a hole in the ground this early in the cycle. I'll let my guard down on scUM when he doesn't do an interview without putting them in his top schools or mentioning how great of a program they are. I know we get jaded sometimes talking about how much they suck, but that's not reality. scUM has a good program and there is no reason a quality recruit should not consider them. Especially if they (and their mother) are avid fans of the team.

I would love to grab him, but I will be keeping my eye on scUM throughout this process until the end.

His head coach said Stanford and OSU lead in December

Where did you see the info about the UM gear?

Jabril at least with 247 doesn't do many interviews, multiple have been with his coach and one even with a teammate

Peppers could have done that to but I'm pretty sure u guys are thinking of '15 Cass Tech QB Jayru Campbell who even though he goes to Cass Tech might like Bama and ND more than UM

This guy is the 2014 Eddie Vanderdoes

I disagree. We were always high on Vanderdoes, but we were not real contenders until very late in the cycle.

Bama and ND are the only schools to offer Jayru at this point I believe.

Perhaps he means from a want/need standpoint. That's how I took it.

On IrishIllustrated is says the ND has not been by to visit nearly as much but wont hold that against them for now...interesting the coaches would cool off on him this early

This kid is the " must get" in this class

I said the same thing about Mackenzie Alexander early in last cycle so I believe it's safe to say that there are no "must gets" this early on. Things we don't see will always happen. Wait until the end of the summer or sometime in the season to label someone a 'must get'.

A kid like Mac Alexander could never be a must get for ND IMO. Jaylon Smith, on the other hand, was, and always would be. Depends on what you consider a 'must get', as opposed to a strong want.

Agree 100%. I meant to put the part into my past comment about Jaylon, but forgot to. But Jabrill isn't from our backyard nor from a real pipeline school, therefore not a 'must get'. Is he in my top 3 of wants this year? Yeah. I wouldn't say he's a must get yet though.

Also, I was pointing out the mistake I made last year in calling someone like Mac a must get. I was premature.
