Is he Catholic?

“I really like them. I’m interested in Notre Dame because they’re a great school that’s rich in tradition and education. I like that they’re a Catholic institution because I’m Catholic as well. There are a lot of things I like about the school, to be honest. They would be a great program to play for.”

ND + E Hood = Match made in heaven
-He's Catholic
-Told Bama he wasn't interested due to lack of educational value
-Dad likes ND

Him being really freaking good at football doesn't hurt either. This guy has a mean streak between the tackles and an ability to break long runs too.

If this guy commits sometime soon he could be the Jaylon Smith of this years class.

I have seen him play in person a few times. He is a better running back Natrone "The Bomb" Means who played at Carolina and then off to the NFL for multiple years. I went to H.S. with Nate. Elijah is something special.

I haven't really followed him yet but Hood seems like a guy everyone is expecting and seeing how highly Rivals has him is great. So he could be a RB or a LB? Gimme Michel at RB and Hood at LB, doesn't that sound good?

Pretty hard. Staff has been to his school numerous times. There was an update not long ago where ND, Ohio State, and Michigan had come by his school.

Everything points in ND's favor right now.

Hood is 4-3 LB, doesn't have the height ans size they want in there 3-4 LB's.

Hood is 4-3 LB, doesn't have the height ans size they want in there 3-4 LB's plus he's a better RB back prospect anyways.

I sometimes think that we overstate how much the staff puts into measurables. They have had the advantage of being able to land the top prospects at desired measurables, but its not like they haven't coached excellent players that didn't fit the specific measurable profile.

If this class had an Elvis Dumerville in it, I have faith that our staff would pursue it.

Word. I would be fine with taking him and shutting down at RB. We look great at that position for a few years and should be able to save a spot for a lineman by taking only one RB this cycle.

I'm not a fan of players needing to be a certain height but more often that not this staff does as we've seen. Of course there are exceptions but the point is that he's a better RB prospect than he is a LB prospect.

I agree that he's a better RB prospect, but name me a time where Kelly has chose a lower ranked recruit because of measurables? I'm just saying that if the best pass rusher in this class was 5'10", BK isn't going to pass on him because of his height.

We only have two classes of evidence on what BK likes to do, so it's difficult to determine trends. He has recruited plenty of players outside of what this board has claimed to be his unfallable measurable demands over the coarse of his career. Now, some of that has been necessity because of the program stature, but do we really believe that with all of that recruiting experience, Bk would be stupid enough to pass on a better player because of two inches of height?

Yup, I think the wise decision at this point is to recruit him as an RB. You have to recruit him as he is now and you can't take it for granted that he'll grow a certain amount. However, if he gets to campus and grows 2-3 inches the staff can reevaluate at that time.

Not even close to being tall enough to be a linebacker in our defense. I like him more at running back anyway.

So if he would come here with the condition that we give him a shot at LB first, you would pass on a top 10 ranked ATH?

Ok

I'm sorry, I think something has been lost in translation... He wants to be an LB? Last I heard he has shifted his focus to RB and wants to be recruited at that position. He has said most schools are recruiting him as an RB and I believe that includes us.

Am I missing something?

He said earlier that he wanted to play LB, but everyone is recruiting him at RB. My point is that if he wants a shot at LB, why not? He's one of the best athletes in the country and already has a disposition to Notre Dame. We are stacked at RB back anyway, so what would it hurt if we used his redshirt year letting him try to break into the LB rotation. Last time i checked, we lack depth at ILB, which is the shorter LB position. Worst case scenario, he ends up not fitting in at LB and we redshirt a top ten ATH for RB. Best case scenario, he exceeds expectations and contributes at LB.

Either way, we guarantee landing a top 10 ATH. This kid is real.

I agree that we should take into account what position he plays in college. If he really wants to play LB I'm sure the coaching staff will consider that. However, they've been pretty rigid with profiling certain positions so I'm not sure if his desire to play that position would deter them from recruiting him for the position they think he should play.

I'm not saying I personally can't get on board with your recruiting strategy here, but I'm not so sure the coaches would.

The update I read on ISD was that he was focusing on RB. A couple ACC schools were looking at him at LB or RB.

As with the EE, sign now..position later. Keep the dialogue open and entertain his desire to play LB but as a college coach, he should trust their judgment and what they have seen in him and where they feel he would be best at.
