Michigan? Really? They always seem to make the first cut for kids from Hoodbridge for some reason. Really don't understand it.

Geez just go to Tech and spare the drama for the next year if Michigan is involved

It is almost impossible to believe [from what I hear from my VT brother] that Hand is doing anything but going along with the recruiting drama so that he can enjoy the ride before announcing for Tech.

Like I've said 100 times... Michigan always tends to make early Top 5s or Top 3s for these guys from Virginia... then they never land them. Will this break the trend? I hope not. that would REALLY suck. You have to think he ends up at VT or in the SEC.

A> Why didn't Green have other options?
B> Supposed interest in UM is Engineering.

I doubt that. Doesn't seem incredibly intelligent. Well the only other places he was still in contact with was Tennessee and Auburn. both with new coaching staffs and new play styles that didn't really suit him.

Alot of people are interested in engineering until they take their first classes (Tee Shepard comes to mind). Not alot of people can handle that. Almost no one can handle that with a big time D1 scholarship. Major props to him if he can handle it, but its really tough.

The guy down the hall from me freshman year, Jashaad Gaines, tried to do mechanical engineering. I think he struggled a lot with it. I know I definitely would have in his shoes. Engineering is a team sport. You almost always have to work with people, and often that means working late into the night. Getting up at 6 for football practice is real tough after a near all-nighter. It would be extremely tough if you had to do it all the time. Thermodynamics alone nearly killed me one year. Superbowl weekend, I locked myself in on Saturday to take care of all my non-thermo homework. On Sunday, I had to skip the game to keep working on a problem set due Monday, which even with 6 people working together, didn't get "done" (gave up on the last few problems) until 2am. Then in the morning, we had a big quiz in the class and the midterm the next day. Without football, that one thing nearly knocked me out. I can't imagine what it would be like with it.

It's not that he had no other options, just not the sort of options Hand will have imo. Given that ND was never really in for Green I only followed bits and pieces of his recruitment but here's what I took out of what I saw.

-Supposedly he wanted to commit to OSU but they wouldn't take him.
-He kept two of the worst teams in the SEC last year (Tennessee and Auburn) in it to the very end, could be way off here but is that because he wasn't getting recruited hard by the bigger SEC teams.
-Despite having Michigan near the top of his list for a long time he waited until signing day to commit. Is that possibly because he was looking for other options to come after him?

Maybe those points are completely wrong, but they're all possibilities imo. Hand wont have any of those problems. Anyone who thinks they have a shot will recruit the hell out of him and he's not the sort of prospect that coaches won't accept a commitment from.

Hated Thermo. But it most definitely did not take the longest time to get work done. That belonged to Theory of Structures I, solving for indeterminate structures by hand.

I'm sure he is smart, but there is NO WAY he can handle engineering at U of M his first couple of years. The exception is IOE, but it doesn't seem like he is interested in this.

I'm sorry, but it just will not happen.

Shouldn't we want him to go to Michigan? The series ends after 2014, his freshmen year, but Notre Dame could see Virginia Tech in the ACC rotation 2015/2016...

I would love to see Michigan go 0-12 every single year even if we don't play them. So for them to lose out on top talent I'm all for.

I would love to see them go 1-11 each year.....as long as the beat OSU. If Mr. Hand allows them to do it, I am in favor of it.

I'd rather play him once in the ACC rotation than have him boost the on-field performance of a major recruiting rival for 3-4 years.

Did we just become best friends?!?!?!

This is basically my reasoning haha

The thought of Urban Meyer winning Big Ten Championship after Big Ten Championship and getting a free ticket to the Final Four is disgusting. There is (currently) no Penn State to knock them off every few years, Michigan needs to come back from the dead.
