Not a chance. He is getting redshirted and will be 3rd string at best.
I hope he's wrong. If Kiel gets passed, he's probably going to transfer. Then our QB depth would go from excellent to scary thin with the loss of Rees, Hendrix and Kiel.
That isn't what Mike Frank said in print. It is so contradictory, that I would expect it was a miscommunication.
idk ....some idiot caller said he thought malik would get moved to lb by the years end...don't know where this idea came from...but anyways...mike then states...ND is extremely high on him and said he wouldn't be suprised to see him 2nd string by end of year
Did he say that he thought he would be second string, or specifically second string over Kiel?
Either way, Mike Frank is a dope. Always has been, always will be.
he stated over keil
This past year Golson obviously struggled reading the defense on the fly. A lot of his throws were predetermined. I think if Kiel has a better understanding of the offense over Golson then he has a great chance to get the nod, but I think Kelly wants Golson to be the starter. He just wants to see mental improvement with decision making.
He said he wouldn't be surprised if Malik wound up #2. The statement 'wouldn't be surprised' in itself implies it is not the expected result. That isn't offering a prediction, nor knocking Kiel. That is simply a statement offering belief in the potential abilities of Malik.
Big difference a lot of you guys are missing, and creating something out of nothing. Spring ball can't come quickly enough lol.
Agreed. Golsons reads didn't impress me much. He did improve, but he still struggles to see middle of the field routes. He also doesn't lead receivers to often on their natural routes. He's either finding them when they are posted up or they are rerouting as Everett is scrambling.
Ev still has a long way to goes in terms of reading and prereads especially.
So many times Everett should have changed his progressions before the snap based on formation, mismatches etc. He lacked the prereads that a guy like tommy makes a living on.
I think this race will be open. But it's either gonna be kiel or most likely, Golson.
Although, if malik does make it to the second string, that wouldn't be too bad of a thing because it most likely means he's too good not to sit. Which is rarely a bad thing.
I don't disagree, but I put some of this on Kelly. Every game it seemed like the routes were too complicated and/or took too long to develop. Check-downs and drag routes work really well in college, but we hardly ever used them. Instead, we're opting for deep comebacks on the outside.
Malik Zaire – Growing in Notre Dame | Yahoo Sports Radio
Good listen-about 7 minutes. Presents himself well on radio. Currently in Arizona at some Rivals training with some ND players like Nix and Neal (I do not understand that).

I have a feeling that it had to take some impressive workouts by Zaire to push Gunner over the transfer edge.
I'll be checking out some spring practices in a month and I'll keep an eye on Malik.
I had heard a few months ago that Malik had been outplaying gunner in some offseason 7 on 7s. MZ is a very impressive player and is hungry to learn more and always improve.
