I would suspect the OL will look like this to begin the season.

LT - Martin
LG - Watt
C - Cave
RG - Golic
Rt - Lombard

Nichols, Hegarty, and Hanratty will get reps, but I think we'll start off with the experienced Golic at RG.

I thought Lombard was more of a guard than a tackle. Anyone know for sure? And how far is Prestwood from getting into the two-deep?

I think TJ's potential hasn't been realized because of Tommy's lack of arm strength. Having someone who can stretch the field vertically, along with Eifert occupying the safeties, can help Jones become a solid and more consistent deep threat.

Isaq's Stats for 2011 season

Seems like he was Redshirted to me. I saw him in the first game against USF, and that's it. Seems like he saw time in the first 2 games and then Kelly decided to RS him to develop his raw talent and learn the position.

He played in a lot of games this year including the bowl game. And just because he didn't accumulate stats didn't mean he didn't participate.

ESPN Ishaq season stats

ND Participation Stats

He played in every game except USC and Wake.

Fun thing to look back on. I never would have guessed Russell and Farley would be starters 11 months ago.

Who would have thought we would be where we are with only 1 out of 4 of our DB starters playing for us down the stretch, and getting next to nothing out of 3 of 4 of our backups behind them. Crazy how things work out.

I love threads like these. Way too early predictions are always great in retrospect. It's like why I like preseason mock drafts.

I would have mine be

QB-Golson/Kiel
RB-Atkinson/Carlisle & Bryant
WR-Daniels/Smith
WR-Jones/Brown
WR-Neal/Carlisle
TE-Niklas/Koyack
LT-Z. Martin/Stanley
LG-Watt/Harrell
C-Hegarty (I have faith he'll be healthy)/Hanratty
RG-N. Martin/Hanratty
RT-Lombard/Elmer

DE-Tuitt/Schwenke
NT-Nix/Springmann
DE-Day/Hounshell
CAT-Shembo/Williams
ILB-Fox/Calabrese
ILB-Grace/Moore
DOG-Spond/Smith
CB-Jackson/Wood

SS-Shumate/Baratti

The offensive line really depends on what happens with Nicholas and Hegarty. I just went with Hegarty as being back and Nicholas as not being back. No reason behind it.

I'm so pumped that our defense has the ability to be even better next year. The secondary is going to be better. The line is going to be better. The only spot that won't get an upgrade is middle linebacker if course but I'm confident overall the linebacker crew as a whole will be upgraded.

I wish i could agree whole heartedly, but you just can't replace a guy like Kappy...

I like this, some are obvious and some not so much. I wonder who will break out in the spring? Someone like Okwara or Councell could make huge improvements to their game. Or what about Rabasa? Maybe he really turns it on in the off-season! Who knows, but that is actually what I look forward to most for next year!

The only battles I see next year are the 2 safety spots and the RB position.

Also interested to see how much time Shembo/Williams split.

Assuming the best regarding injuries, 5th/6th years etc

S: Stronger than last year / W: Weaker than last year

Even though we have really no idea who will start or how the carries will be split, I think we will be fine at RB even with a slight drop off

The only major drop offs I see are Center and MIKE

IMO, here are guys making a leap next year:

TJ Jones: really talented, but a bit a a head case. I'm hoping he takes a page from Jonas and dedicates himself to playing up to his full potential next year. I'll say 800+ receiving yards.

Atkinson/Bennet/Brown/Shepard: make for darn good 2-deep by the end of next year

Riddick: makes big impact as 1b option at RB

Tuitt: becomes top DL on team

Spond: earns solid PT at LB
Awesome predictions. Got everything exactly right except the corner situation (which was impossible to predict, really). This was also basically the only mention of Spond in this thread.

Great thread. Is it just me or--assuming Nix returns (please please return Big Lou)--then our defense will be even better next year...and think of how great we've been this year??? Not only will we be very talented first string but i think our depth will be outstanding. And if our defense struggles next year (and Nix returned) then i think that would show and prove to everyone just how Manti was the best college football player in the nation this year.

I'm excited for next year....only worried about our NT if Nix leaves and our offensive line if we won't have Hegarty and Tate and Martin.

Also can we please find a way to get Cam McDaniel more involved next year. He's like a Theo Riddick in my eyes...a great tough kid who finds ways to make big plays. He needs a larger role. Our wide receiver group is going to be fantastic next year and don't sleep on Alex Welch if he can come back 100%.

no one thinks Jaylon can come in and start from Day 1? I'd like to see the dude get completely soaked as apposed to just getting his feet wet (if that analogy makes sense)
