Kelly didn't say that. The reporter said that the coaches feel confident about EV committing later.

Forgot my IPad Today so I just got any updates at all at 4:30. It's been much better than worrying all day.

Exactly.

The question that was probably posed was something like. Do you believe that you will get one more committment today. Kelly probably responded, yeah, I think we got a good chance at getting one more commitment today.

Everyone knows who he is referring to and no violation has occurred.

pOSU staff did the same basic thing earlier today when they said they were confident that they would be able to fill the RB slot with a new committment. Everyone knew they were talking about EE.

Coaches can't comment on recruits publicly or on camera, I'm not sure how it works if he were talking "off the record" and a reporter issues a general statement like Bob did.

I dont think they can mention them by name or really bring them up at all. But like you said im not sure how the off the record works. My guess is that they still keep things quiet just in case

I'm sure you are right. The reporter was by himself giving his report and was summarizing the Folston incident, then he said something pretty close to "now the Irish coaching staff can turn its attention to California recruit Eddie Vanderdoes and Coach Kelly is optimistic Vanderdoes will/may end up in South Bend."

But he wasn't interviewing Kelly on the screen. Most likely Kelly told the guy "We're optimistic we can add a guy or two" and this guy connected the dots.

i've tried to stay pretty mum and soak all this in today (btw thanks to all the guys hooking us up with the updates), but i seriously had a dream that EV was playing for ND...he was #92 for whatever reason. i woke up and thought "could this be possible?" i'm hoping this is a dream come true...just hanging in there for a little bit longer.
