despite any rumors floating around, he did not re-commmit to SC and is still planning on announcing his decision on February 6 at his school. Will choose from SC, UCLA, Bama, Washington, and Notre Dame. Annoyed with rumors about re-committing.

Talked about his visit this weekend, it went very well and his family got a lot accomplished. Met with academic people, called visit "intriguing."

Has previous relationship with/knowledge of new Def coordinator, said he likes how he'd be used. 3 and 5 technique.

Will visit ND this coming weekend and Bama the following. Will look at the campus, fit with players, family feeling, coaches and scheme, and added that academics are huge.

Well...that's better.

USC players also thought. Redfield was gonna recommit. Very optimistic bunch.

All Trojan commits believe he will end up back at USC.

Good for them. They also said he recommitted over the All-Star weekend. And A'shawn Robinson was a "lock" too.

Two visits to go... no telling where he ends up.

Conventional wisdom was that we'd be in great shape if Vanderdoes made it out of this weekend without recommitting. That happened. I'm happy.

yep, ND and the staff have a great opportunity to sell the program to him, which is more than any of us could have hoped for a little over a month ago.

"academics are huge" should bode well, however we've seen that many times. hopefully he gets a real family vibe while on his visit and gets the special feeling that so many of us have experienced as former ND athletes and fans visiting campus for the first time.

For some reason fans of ND have had this inferiority complex in recent times.

I think ND stands a good of a chance as anyone of the 4 teams.

If his mom does come we may want to abort your plan of busing in some IU girls to show him a good time. Not sure momma would aprove of that action.

I am of the opinion that the fact that four teams are mentioned by Eddie is VERY good for the psychology of the situation. That's a lot of emotional "insulation" from the old USC-or-Bust feelings that EV may well have had. It seems to me to "push USC further away", and allow a more thoughtful decision. When "thoughtful" gets involved, I like Notre Dame's chances.

Yep, that was my biggest concern that we wouldn't get a shot at him and the visit wasn't going to happen. I'm sure the staff will be on it's A--Game and the University will sell itself. Hopefully the vibe will be strong and the Teo "stuff" will have subsided...though I don't think that matters much if at all.

We're all optimistic that the Te'o situation will soon subside. Not sure that it will much by this weekend though given the Katie Couric interview that will air on Thursday, unless of course that interview goes so well that the tenor of the Te'o dialogue changes course.

No doubt, though, that I shared the concern that we might not even get the shot at the EV visit. Feeling psyched that it's about to happen and that he still seems to be pretty open-minded. Quite confident that he would (will?) be a significant difference maker in our future defenses.
