His lateral movement concerns me a little for an OT. But he also has a full year to improve it and, theoretically, 1-3 years to improve it in college.

I looked up the 2013 UA AA Combine results and thought perhaps they wrong his 40 and shuttle times in the wrong boxes. A 5.08 40 and a 4.6 shuttle would make more sense.

By the way his vertical was a 21.5.

Not for an offensive lineman that is 16/17 years old and just growing into their body.

That's slow for an OL but not incredibly slow. Alabama's AA Chance Warmack HS 40 was 5.5. ND's Conor Hanratty was listed at 5.9

i thought the shuttle was questionable too for his 40 time...a 4.6 forty for a back would equate to about a 4.3 or 4.2 shuttle for skill guys. sounds like he needs to work on a few more cones, bags, and speed ladders. vertical isn't eye popping either. although the article was encouraging about him doing well during the 1 on 1s

still think there's a ton of potential here and you can't always judge a dude by what he does at a combine...would love to see some jr film when it comes out.

I get not offering a guy like Jeff Jones who is a solid 4 because we are pushing guys like Starks, Fournette, Michel and Scarbrough

But for Gibbons the only real absolute stud guy we are pursuing is Jones, McDermott and Braden Smith, everyone else is at or around Gibbons level IMO

Even then, we look good for Cole and Jones plus are squarely in the race for Mustipher and McDermott and are hanging around for Braden Smith. That's it. For fourish spots, Gibbons needs an offer.

I know I'm late in reading his profile, but according to the sept article quoted on here....Gibbons Gets Another Look At ND
he was 6-7 270. Might be the normal HS exaggeration. Probably means more like 6-5 255. Either way, seems to want to be Irish, and his offer list is definitely getting better.

I honestly don't think our chances with Jones are all that great. We have a decent chance with McDermott and a better than average chance at Mason Cole but none are locks. You have to lock up OL early. It's time for the offer to come. Hell we just offered that kid out of Texas that had no interest what so ever.

We need to secure his commitment judging by his ability and love for ND.

Everyone else is digging this kids ability.

And in my untrained opinion, I agree.

I hope we don't "jade" the kid early on...
