Hey bud do you understand business. Stuff happens that holds stuff up. So it took a day extra due to that. Did TP do that? If you only knew...but you dont so go on with bashing people that are in a position you wish you could be in.

I agree that Wooly needs to pump the brakes right now, but I do think his original question was a valid one. If you are going to put predictions out there, either by detail or through strong inference, you need to understand that people will question you if it does not come true. That's just common sense.

Further, by stating things such as "if you only knew...", you are demonstrating the same type of behavior, albeit from the opposite side, that you are railing against. If he needs to get over himself, you certainly do as well by those type of vague comments. If you want him to know the sources so Wooly might completely understand, tell him. If not, don't - but then don't rail against him by stating those type of vague remarks.

Take it to PM. Enough of that stuff here.

But as many people pointed out in the early stages, BK KNEW about the interview before the game, and it obviously made a difference in his being TOTALLY focused on prepping for the game. ND may not have had a chance to BEAT Bama, but it certainly would have been better prepared if the coach actually was as focused on the game as he demanded his players be.

Glad he is back, but I did not care for the way any of this was handled by anyone involved, from the Irish side, anyway.

UND quote of Jack Swarbrick, "I appreciate the Eagles reaching out to request permission to speak with Brian, and I also appreciate Brian keeping me fully informed throughout this process. We all look forward to what's ahead for Notre Dame football."

Early in this thread I cautioned everyone not to panic. I expressed confidence in Jack Swarbrick's ability to do what's best for the University of Notre Dame. It looks like Swarbrick was on top of things all along. The Eagles asked permission to talk to Kelly. Swarbrick asked them to hold off until after the NCG so that Kelly could focus on preparation for the NCG. Coach Kelly kept Swarbrick informed throughout the process.

School was not in session. Kelly announced his decision publicly before the start of the second semester. He or one of his assistants may very well have informed the EE's prior to the public announcement. If the media hadn't gone bonkers with the initial interview info and fans hadn't jumped to wild conclusions, the matter would have been handled in less than a week.

How long did it take Chip Kelly and Oregon to do the same?

New poll on ESPN.com gauging the level of surprise that BK turned down the Eagles to stay at ND.

I love how it's worded. That helps with recruits.

Wasn't it handled in less than a week?

I agree with your overall premise and I think bc it was handled in less than a week it improves your point.

One of the mods needs to add Kelly to the commitment list. I'm thinking he's a five star.

I would leave it as a soft verbal tho. He has wavered a bit on his commitment.

Okay everyone. Back over to the AA thread so we can resume piling on!

I'm assuming Diaco is already in the bush outside his front door awaiting his departure for Florida.

Maybe BK used this whole thing as a screening tool to weed out the non-RKGs. AA failed.

Honestly, that exact thought crossed my mind the other day.

Just glad this is finally over. Now I have no clue wtf I'm gonna do with my time.

The eagles called Savvy Jack, not Kelly. He told them any contact would have to wait until after the game.

I just wanna know whose bright idea it was to change the thread title.

I'd been keeping up with the thread (for the most part) when it was about Kelly's interviewing with the Eagles. Suddenly "BK stays at ND" appears – with more than 2900 posts.

I just about sh¡t thinking that I'd have to slog/scan through that many posts just to catch up ...

I think if we were 'wise' we wouldn't have invested so much time and aggravation in the first place.

Unfortunately, we're fanatics. Wisdom doesn't enter in to much of what we do around here at all.

True...very True. Me included...

That still does not negate the fact that BOTH knew about the Eagles job interview, or the fact that you know BK had that on his mind as well.

That is why I said I don't like the way it was handled by the Irish.

You guys know I think there is nothing more worthwhile in this life than arguing about who knows or doesn't know what inside information and there are few things as ageless as waging a public debate over this question, but there are surprisingly those who might disagree. So for their sake let's keep it to PM.

Trust in your leader..even in the most darkest of times. You trusted him in the beginning for a reason. Always remember that.

AMEN. Loss of faith = BAD

CBS is saying BK turned the Eagles down! Third college coach to do so. Wow!

The NFL is typically every coaches dream. Says a lot. And it says a lot that the Eagles were willing to wait to talk to him. Time is precious.

There wasn't a big hold up. It was 3 days. The reaction of Notre Dame "fans" was as embarrassing as anything I've ever seen in sports. I hope the people that went off the deep end even though they were repeatedly told it was just a negotiation and there wasn't anything to worry about remember this the next time there is "bad news."

^^^^^^

Great news. Now we can talk about the uniform surprise.

Back to more cats. See Philly, cats are good luck bro.

I would like to thank the '13 class for being cooler than most us. "MOB IT!"

Love the maturity of these young men, not to mention the closeness of the group.

Yes TP, take credit for something you claimed would happen yesterday. It's not like there weren't a bunch of ND beat guys and informed premium posters (Hanratty) saying that BK would stay. Shoot, half this site was saying they thought he would stay. But please... Go ahead and take credit for something that you never predicted correctly.

This is the $hit that drives me crazy. You can't just be a fan? You can't post without trying predict something that is posted on every premium site or taking credit for said info?

God ol' mighty...

Wooly you are one of my favorite posters, maybe THE favorite. I bet you don't get mad at professional wrestlers. Perspective my friend. Sending you an e-hug bro.

My mother says I'm handsome. I bet she would check out my posts too. Great f'ing ideal. I'll be the shizzle.

He was never going anywhere. You can't pay attention to the "details" in situations like this because anything the media gets is planted, and planted info is designed to forward a narrative and an agenda. They had to sell his interest in order for the leverage play to work. If you step back from it, I think its obvious that the Eagles hiring Kelly and Kelly leaving ND to go there makes zero sense for either of them. It would be a step down for him, and it would be a horrible hire by the Eagles because all of his best skills as a coach would be completely wasted in the NFL.

...I stated much earlier in the thread that I thought Kelly would be an outstanding NFL coach, so I've spent this entire Saga doubting he'd go, but thinking he could. AS well, I believe the Eagles brass looked real hard at him. I believe both sides were open minded, and proceeded with earnest. I think knowing Kelly's apparent strengths and evaluating his performance...he translates. I think this was a real "look".

Right now, I think his decision boils down to rather he WANTS to teach kids, and grow men, or just move chess pieces. The rewards are certainly different at the college level...I think he hasn't gotten his fill yet...yet. Some of his staying put may very well be owing to Saban's interviews...just a hunch those resonated with BK a little.

Regardless, I suspect you and I will be having this very conversation about Kelly, and how well he translates to the NFL within 24 Months...I think his next stop is the NFL...and I think he'll win there too.
