Funny story.
Just a few days ago I was at work here in Dayton,OH at BestBuy...and this family comes in and I sell them a tv. I notice one of their more athletic daughters is wearing a ND hoodie and I ask if she's a fan. She said sorta, but that they were recruiting her for basketball. I said that was so cool and asked if she was considering us. She said maybe, since her boyfriend will be playing football for the Irish next year.
This gets my heart fluttering.(lol i know.) And of course I ask, who is your boyfriend?
"Malik Zaire."
OMFG!!!!
I said that was really cool and had been watching his recruitment for the last 6 months.

They were a really nice family, and if they do end up IRISH it will be a very welcome addition.

How badly was she creeped out? hahaha jm.

I remember last year after the USC game I was in Dillon Hall with one of my friends that goes to ND... I saw Deontay Greenbury walking around and decided to talk to him. I was hesitant, because I didn't want to look like a creep. But, he was actually super friendly and talked to me for a little bit..... But, his story ended a little different than how Malik's will.

Here is my funny story. In 2009 I got a job at a residential treatment facility. There was a teacher named Mr Z. He was one of the stricter teachers and all the kids respected him and his rules. He was always watching sports center and talking up his sons football skills. In those days I just kind of rolled my eyes as everyone talks about their kids. I moved away to Indiana in 2011. I get a text from an old coworker who is a USC fan and tells me Mr Z's son might be going to Ohio State but is visiting Notre Dame. I message Mr Z and in fact his son, Malik, was visiting. He said that he just wants to know if he has a fair shake at playing QB there. He also said that he was not feel'n what Urby was selling at OSU. Sounded as if he just wanted to know he was being recruited as a QB and not an "Athlete." Mr Zaire and I exchange emails from time to time about his son and Notre Dame's success this season. They are loving every minute of the season thus far.

On more note- Malik Zaire is talking to the Marines here and talking about doing their PT regimine and IMO he and Devin Butler are showing the most leadership on either side of the ball.

From Shurburtt.

Not surprised. Being from Ohio I saw Malik play a couple of times...he was in complete command of his team. Just spews leadership. I'm so fired up that he is on board.

Sky is the limit with this young man! I would want him on my side, regardless of the endeavor, can hardly wait to see him grow into our starter.

Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl: Friday night viewers guide
5 we’re anxious to see
QB, Malik Zaire
We love Malik Zaire’s playmaking ability and leadership qualities. He’ll do well in the game setting when the pocket breaks down and he can use his legs to make something happen. We’re more anxious to see what Zaire does in a clean pocket with his arm, an area that he struggled with at times during the week.

I still think it is tough for these QBs to look great in these games. Timing with WRs, inexperienced Oline going up against top Dline athletes, and fully understanding and knowing the playbook.

Gunner Kiel didnt look good last year in his All-Star Game, and Zaire might not either, but I am not writing either of those two off based on this. Games like this favor the skill positions.

I agree, these games are toughest on the QBs, and I've seen a number of them criticized this week, not just Zaire. Zaire's mixed reviews are no cause for concern, especially when we don't need him to contribute right away.

Zaire looked OK he showed flashes of his scrambling abilities. He had a lot pressure coming his way on so did not get the opportunity to go deep.

Moving day! #DYTtoSouthBend

That's wonderful news! Whatever happens with Kelly at this point is fine with me, but the kids that committed to the school are going to benefit greatly because of their morals and values to commitment! The kids that stick in this class will be favorites of mine forever!

Thank God most of the kids in this class are more mature than the head coach. And I LOVE Brian Kelly. I never doubted him. But he has just handled this very poorly.

But this is Malik's thread. I love the skill set on this kid. We are in great shape QB wise for years to come.

He looks to be a special talent and I can't wait to see what these kids can do as a group. I just hope they have a great leader that actually cares about them during their time here.
