Here's a counter-example for everyone:
Bennett Okotcha committed to ND. Late in the cycle, he got an offer from Oklahoma. When asked about it, he didn't spout a bunch of BS... he said he would think about it. Then he thought about it and switched his commit to the school he preferred.
NO ONE got upset about that. Everyone said "gosh, that's a bummer, good luck Bennett." It's the same as in business where if you get a job offer you're expect to give 2 weeks notice, etc.
In business it's not OK for your boss to find your resume on the printer, then you lie to him about it, then you make a public announcement to maybe the team you're managing that "don't believe any rumors I'm 100% not leaving before this project is complete," and then tell your boss "no, seriously, you don't have to worry about looking for a replacement project manager"...... all the while you have the full intention of leaving for another firm, then at the last possible second before a very important deadline you quit the company for one of their competitors after over the previous weekend hanging out and talking with all of your coworkers about how awesome it's going to ace is this project and promising all of them that you're DEFINITELY going to be turning in your portion of the deliverable.
If someone did this in the business world, people would go "What the eff is wrong with that guy? That's totally unacceptable. What a douche." And that's exactly what's happening here. In the professional world this is the kind of conduct that would haunt you for YEARS if you ever tried to move jobs again in the same realm.
Anyways... just want to make the distinction clear for those trying to equate this to Gunner or other recruits.
